We had a look at Balmashie on a previous visit to St. Andrews and decided to try it out on our latest trip. It was important that our holiday should be relaxing. Our past experience with B&Bs is that having to get up at a set time for breakfast and having to eat out in the evenings can be quite...

We needed pet-free accommodation over the Xmas period for our daughter and her family. They cannot stay in our house because one of the children is severely asthmatic and is allergic to our dogs. The Balmashie people could not of been more helpful in arranging for a suitable cottage and about returning a charger that had been left behind.

We had a wonderful week at Balmashie Cottages from 13th to 20th October 2012. As our daughter was getting married at Kinkell Byre on the 18th of October, we decided to block book several of the cottages for different family members. The location is ideal and Iain and Louise are eager to please and are very efficient and thoughtful. The...

Spent 5 days or so at Balmashie with wife and three older kids (19, 17 and 16). Had a three bedroom cottage (number 7) and was very happy with the cottage. Location is just 5 mins away from St Andrews and very close to Fairmont - you can get 2 for 1 on both the Torrance and Kittocks course. I...

We have been a few times before and are concerned about basic house keeping and standards; we have children and notice that everything is becoming very tired, please don't let your standards slip any further. The location is ideal, but when you are paying over £900 for a week you expect a certain level.

Balmashie was a great find for our cycling weekend. We based ourselves there and did a number of local routes. The friendly and efficient local taxi service to St Andrews was great for our evening outings and the view and accommodation were fantastic. It was a bonus to be able to book a short weekend break as some self catering places...

The cottage was very clean, well looked after and well situated although if you want to be in town for the evening it takes 7 or 8 mins to get there . The only issue I had with the cottage was its lack of noise insulation inside especially the bathroom. When sitting in the living room you could hear every...

We stayed at these cottages for a weekend, as our niece was getting married nearby. Excellent deal negotiated and this was a wonderful place to stay for all of the family who stayed there. Throughout the planning Iain and Louise were very accommodating and went out of their way when we needed an extra cottage at the last minute. Everything...

I was with Toodles80 on our weekend away - what an absolute gem of a place she found!! As bride to be I didn't pay (yippee) but the girls got such reasonable rates. The location is amazing being just outside St Andrews and with the Fairmont close by, yet quiet enough to allow relaxation. The views from the front cottages...
