Welcome To Braeside House We have mastered the art of providing great Bed and Breakfast experiences by looking after over 3,800 guests over the last 15 years we've been in business. The majority of those 3,800 guests; golfers, holiday makers, University lecturers, past students of the University -and even an American Senator and American Brigadier General - have all said we provide the things they looked for when choosing a B&B in St Andrews. Location is crucial. We are only 5 minutes walk to the town centre and the Bus Station, 10 minutes walk to the first tee of the Old Course, walking distance to the University, 10 minutes walk to the Byre Theatre and we are very close to the Botanic Gardens .

My husband and I recently travelled through Scotland for our honeymoon and had the absolute pleasure of staying at Braeside House for two nights. Margaret and James were wonderful hosts - friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. They provided us with some great recommendations, and even called and made reservations for us at two local restaurants. Margaret and James went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, and we really enjoyed getting to know them a little during our stay. We would highly recommend Braeside House to anyone travelling through St. Andrews! If we ever find ourselves in St. Andrews again, we will be booking at the Braeside House!

James & Margaret, along with their assistant housekeeper Cheryl, made the week we spent in St. Andrews so memorable. Braeside House is easy to find, centrally located, and a very easy walk or drive to anything you want to do or see in St. Andrews, while being far enough away from the mad crush of tourists to provide a nice & quiet retreat for weary travelers. These are genuinely kind people who concerned themselves with our overall enjoyment, from sharing our thrill at my husband's tee times at the Old Course (twice!), giving wonderful advice regarding day trips into the surrounding countryside, helping above and beyond with our laundry situation (thank you Margaret, you are amazing), fixing us lovely breakfasts each morning, and just generally making all the wonderful things about Scotland even better. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice en suite bathroom, having all the amenities that we needed. Our windows overlooked the pretty garden in the front and there was ample parking for our rental. We could park in the driveway or easily on the street. There is a gas station just around the corner, any type of restaurant or shop you could want a pleasant ten-minute walk into downtown, where you can also sightsee to your heart's content. I very much hope we will return one day & we will definitely stay with our friends at Braeside House.

James and Margaret were very nice hosts. They were very helpful with trying to find places to eat in town and in making reservations. The Braeside is a 5-10 minute walk to the Old Course. The room was clean and comfortable. The porridge for breakfast was quite good. And if you have an early tee time there was cereal, granola, yogurt, fruit, and bread available for breakfast.

Was here for 4 nights recently. The hosts were amzing and couldnt be more helpful for my first time staying in St Andrews. As a young lad being away for work for the first time i thought id feel really awkward but after being 'told off' for not using the wardrobe it was almost like feeling being back home 😁 Would definately reccomend Braeside House to anyone as everyone there is so welcoming!

My husband and I stayed at Braeside for one night in mid-July, while visiting St Andrews. Margaret and James were lovely hosts, very welcoming and accommodating. I'm only sorry that we couldn't stay longer! (We had to leave to catch our train before the normal breakfast was served, so Margaret set some fruits, juice, toast for us the night before.) The house itself is quaint and very comfortable, and located in walking distance to the main shopping and sightseeing areas of the town. It was very easy to find as well, right on the corner of a main thoroughfare, with beautiful gardens out front!

James and Margret were lovely hosts, I'd never been to St. Andrews before and so they helped me navigate the town with maps and other info. The room was clean and comfortable and very cosy! In the morning my breakfast was given to me almost as soon as I sat down and what great food! It really set me up for the long day ahead. Thank-you so much!

James and Margaret are wonderful hosts. the b&b is extremely comfortable and clean. the food was excellent and cooked to order. they have a wealth of knowledge of the area and were spot on with local recommendations and setting up our golf tee times. we were treated as family and can't wait to return. The room was nice and spacious enough with an en-suite bathroom. The location of the B & B is just about 10 minutes walking distance of the town centre. The hospitality of James & Margaret is fabulous, they will do anything to make you feel at home! They serve a great breakfast. Only disturbing thing was the outside noise at night but that was probably due to the start of the college season in St. Andrews

We spent 5 days here just after the Open -- we were not quite IN the town but an easy walk to the Old Course, where we went for the final day. The rooms are comfy and complete. The owners James and Margaret delightful. the breakfast that comes with is delicious. My only comment is that two of the rooms are up a steep flight of stairs -- not a problem for us but if you cannot walk up stairs, ask for the ground floor room. We would definitely stay here again. And we do plan to return to St. Andrews in the future. Wonderful spot to park for a few days in Scotland.
