No less than Premier Inn St Andrews will do when you're visiting this prestigious town that's also known as the 'home of golf'. It features an on-site Thyme restaurant, and new generation bedrooms each with an impressive 40" flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and brand new, slumber-inducing, king-size bed. Our St Andrews hotel is on the edge of the town centre, within walking distance of the seafront and the very royal University of St Andrews. Golfers will delight in the fact we're a very short drive from the mecca of golf, St Andrews Links, as well as other great local golf courses.

The Premier Inn St Andrews hotel garners acclaim for its prime location, a stone's throw from the town center and local attractions, which guests love for the ease of exploration it provides. However, opinions on the hotel's atmosphere and room conditions are split; while some guests rest easy in the quiet comfort of their rooms, others describe the ambiance as lackluster and the accommodations as needing a refresh. Although many praise the cleanliness, a few highlight areas that could use more attention.
Service at the hotel is generally well-regarded, especially the commendable breakfast staff, but feedback suggests there's room to enhance customer care. When it comes to value, the sentiment is divided, with some guests questioning the extra costs given their experiences.

Detailed Reviews
We booked the Premier Inn mainly because it is very reasonably priced, especially in an expensive area like St. Andrews and it was also very near to the family we wanted to visit. We found the staff very helpful and we were checked in and allocated our room on the first floor within five minutes. The room was very spacious with a very comfortable double bed and the bathroom had a full bath with an overhead shower. The room was spotless and we were delighted with all aspects of the hotel. We did not use the Restaurant as we left each morning to be with our family, but it looked very nice. We did, however, take advantage of the tea and coffee facilities.

St Andrews accommodation is expensive to delighted to find out the premier inn came to the rescue on a busy weekend in August. Free car parking about good 10 min walk from south street. We got a taxi up and walked home. The checkin was great, room big and spacious great set up. We booked for breakfast both days, restaurant observing social distancing and sectioned off between tables absolutely no complaints. The breakfast was great good choice all served to order waited on by the staff great set up.I would highly recommend this place close to Aldi and Marks food store, also there is a sign 50metres from inn about leisure centre if you walk this road which is Lamond Gardens it takes you to east sands beach in 10 mins.

Situated on the Largo Road with great parking facilities. Next to the Inn is an M and S food hall, ALDI across the road. A bus stop is a minutes walk away and the 99 Stagecoach can take you to Dundee in thirty minutes.
It is about a ten minute walk from the centre, but more than makes up for this.
Large rooms, good air conditioning, strong shower, reasonable beds, as basic hotels go, pretty good.
The staff are great and go out of their way to help. On our arrival it was raining an umbrella was sourced for us, by reception, The continental and hot breakfast is also good value, however more fresh fruit would be beneficial.
Overall having stayed in a few hotels in the town, this is as good if not better than more expensive options, ideal for the car user.

We stayed here for three nights commencing 8th October 2021. The hotel is really easy to find. The car parking is free and it is right beside a Marks & Spencer grocery store which is great for food. Although the hotel is beside the main road, it is quite quiet (we had a street level room at the street side). The cooked breakfast buffet is excellent and well worth getting as it will keep you going to well past lunchtime. The dinner menu is limited, this may be due to covid, but the pizza and beer was very good! The rooms are serviced every 4 days which suited us well as it meant this was our sterile space. If you need fresh towels etc: In the mornings there is always a room being serviced somewhere along the corridor, so it is only a matter of asking the person cleaning the room if they can swap some linen, give them the used towels and get fresh ones. It is a about a 10 minute walk to the main shopping street.

The description of the hotel car park being shared with a Marks & Spencer's had my wife excited until she found on arrival it is a Foof Hall and not an M&S Store, Disappointment number one and a discarded shopping list.
An early evening friendly check-in for our twin-bedded room, as usual, a double and sofa bed. We were advised the restaurant was open but serving a 'restrictive' menu.
The room was tidy but obviously in need of refreshment. The leading edge of the curtain was hanging down. This could not be fixed because the hooks were missing. Although two guests were booked to stay in the room, the hotel only provided one set of towels. However, this was quickly rectified by the Reception staff. But why did this error happened? It must have been obvious to the Housekeeping staff, two beds, two guests, two sets of towels.
The 'restricted' three choice restaurant menu is pizza, chilli con carne and curry in two forms, normal or vegetarian. My wife had the vegetarian sweet potato, butternut squash and chickpea curry. This was a microwave dish of dry rice and a dry curry lacking any curry sauce. My pepperoni pizza was edible apart from the rock hard crust.
The return of the all you can eat breakfast buffet was a memorable feature. The Full Breakfast selection was great and edible, considering the items are kept under heat lamps. You cannot have everything. However, the same cannot be said about the Continental Breakfast! There was no ham or cheese selection and the danish pastry selection was abysmal, nothing like the selection we enjoyed pre-Covid in February 2020 in London.
The room was cool, and I still cannot master the Premier Inn air conditioning and heating system does not help.
A reasonable stay, but this location must rank as one the worst Premier Inn location I have ever stayed and will find an alternative hotel when I next stay in St Andrews,

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, General Manager at Premier Inn St Andrews hotel
Responded 24 Sept 2021
Hello, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. We’re very sorry that you had a disappointing stay with us recently due to problems with your room set and maintenance, as well as a disappointing experience with the continental breakfast provided. This certainly isn't the experience we would expect for you. We’ve ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with the Housekeeping, Maintenance and Breakfast teams to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. In future, our Reception team are on hand 24/7 and so we would advise speaking with the team as soon as any issues arise to help resolve this whilst you're still in-house. Again, our sincere apologies and thank you for taking the time to share your review. We hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back to one of our hotels again soon for a more enjoyable stay. Kind regards, Lauren

We last stayed here in January 2019 and it was what a Premier Inn should be so gave it 5 stars.
We stayed on a Sunday night and of the 3 Premier Inns we stayed in on our trip, this was far and away the most expensive. For £118.50 in a standard room we expected perfection. Sadly as the photos prove, it was laughable.
Check in was fine and the location suited our needs with plenty parking on site. The room was in contrast to our previous stay. While it was clean this one was shabby with lots of marks on the walls and in dire need of a refresh. However, the bathroom was the problem really. At some time it has clearly flooded with water damage evident to the bath panel, sink under panel and the toilet surround. Whoever thought bathroom sealant should be applied as in the photos and be acceptable is beyond belief. Had this been a £35 a night room then maybe no cause to complain. For £118.50 this was not acceptable.

Just returned from a very disappointing trip. Firstly, email days before changing check in to 4pm for extra cleaning time. Arrived with my elderly mother and two children just after 4pm and had to queue as they were having issues with their check in systems. The guests in front were complaining as the only slots left for breakfast were 6am or 6.30am!! Same for us unfortunately so had to cancel breakfast. (A request to email and book is hidden in your confirmation email although is very unclear!!) Got to our room to find it unclean (brown splashes on toilet wall) and one hand towel and one bath towel between 4 people. Got more from reception from a friendly worker. The bed offered for the kids was uncomfortable and wasn’t made up properly so quickly had to to put the bottom sheet on again.
The following morning we headed out and expected housekeeping as normal but came back to the room untouched. On closer inspection at the reading material in the room turns out you have to specifically request housekeeping.
The hotel corridors are tired and don’t look overly clean.
Won’t be back.

We stayed there to explore St Andrews with two kids and everything was as should be this days, check in quick and distanced ,staff wearing masks etc, room was spacious enoughh and clean (although didn't look hovered), beds comfy ,bathroom clean and in good state, the room was facing the main road but it was really quite, opposte Aldi really handy just to nip to get some snacks, parking with lots of room at rear.Hairdyer and kettle & coffe facilities in the room, soap and shower gel also provided.
When phoned to ask for some more coffe or fresh towels ( room wasn't serviced due to covid) was no bother and it was delivered super quick in bags to avoid close contact.
We didn't use restaurant so can't comment on that.

+1
This hotel is right next to a M&S foodhall and a supermarket is just over the road. There are bus stops nearby and a taxi from the high street costs around £5.
There is a bar but no draught beer or cider only bottles. Wine and spirits are available.
A walk down to town is mostly down hill and a nice walk.

My family have just returned from a 3-night break at the Premier Inn St Andrews and o felt the need to say that the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Room was a good size for us with a long size bed, two children’s beds and a cot. The bathroom came with a high pressure shower and bathtub (essential to wash off the remnants of West Sands beach). Location was great too. Highly recommended!

Yes you can, we saw many walking from the hotel to central downtown. It would be a bit of a walk. Look at Google maps using the walking icon to determine if the distance is too far for you. We did have a car so we did not walk.
No, it is not. But for £9.50 per person you can have all-you-can-eat, and it is really delicious
Yes, stayed there last weekend and the lift was certainly working and we had a pleasant stay with no issues
