This hotel was once a beautiful old house before becoming a hotel it retains all original features and a beautiful sweeping staircase, if you are unfit or in anyway infirm it's not for you, i had to take my shoes off to climb the stairs and at one part of the stairs it is extremely dark and narrow with a... I recently booked over the phone and stayed here with my husband and 6month old son based on trip advisor reviews. We were looking for a comfy hotel, good location somewhere handy for getting about the city. Location couldn't have been better although there's no close/ on site parking (recommend free parking by the botanical gardens) and there's abit of... More

The location of The Alfred is great, if you're looking to explore Glasgow's West End. We only stayed for one night, and I'm not sure we could have been comfortable there much longer. The bed was rather comfortable and the size of the room was pretty good, but everything else left something to be desired. The hot water in the... More

Lovely hotel in an ideal location in the west end of Glasgow. Friendly staff and a quirky interior. Clean and comfortable. I was in a single room with a private bathroom which was up a further 2 flights of stairs fine for me but not great if you have difficulties or have one or two Shandies too many! Only down... More

In a great location for Great Western and Byres road, nearby the beautiful Botanic gardens. Beautiful hotel decorated in period style. We had a top floor room with a superb view over Glasgow. If you struggle with stairs ask for a room on a lower floor. It was a bit of a hike but we didn't really mind. We were... More

Brilliant location. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely stay here again. It's quite quirky, in a good way! My room was very hot though, even with the window open. I would probably book an en-suite rather than private bathroom.

Great location just north of the university and off Great Western Road. Fabulous ambience with a great touch of Edwardian charm and perfect service. Room was very well presented and perfectly cleaned each day. Great price for the location and services too, highly recommended for couples on a long weekend to visit the museums etc.

Stayed at The Alfred for 2 nights. Great location, just a short walk to Byers Road, Ashton Lane etc some great restaurants/bars in the area. Staff were really helpful & cheerful, even when I was getting my taxi at 5am! Room was lovely, super comfortable bed & the best pillows I've come across in a hotel. Wonderfully decor too, main... Spent three perfect nights at the Alfred. Helpful and friendly staff, great room and a nice breakfast to start the day. The west end is full of great restaurants and attractions. Learn to use the subways and trains and the whole city is at your fingertips. We are thinking about returning to the Alfred.

We had a lovely weekend here! Cosy, clean, very comfortable. The bed was amazing- rather important in a b&b. Brekkie was simple and not huge for continental but there were so many good\cheap places to eat close by a cooked brekkie only would have spoiled us for lunch. Its really close to everything and the staff were lovely and accommodating.
