A very nice youth hostel with very clean bedrooms, and the packed lunches we brought from the hostel was spot on for our hike. Plenty of places to sit and chill out too. The only thing was the showers, press the button and the shower only ran for 3 secs. It was a bit annoying having to keep repeatly press...

My 9 year old son, my husband and I had a great time staying here recently. Lots to do, including a walk right outside the door. Watched the red squirrels, rabbits and the nest cam of the local Peregrine falcon. Friendly helpful staff and great to be able to cook meals with your other residents and swap the days stories...

This hostel has very friendly (and helpful!) staff, and is a great environment for families, groups, and solo travelers alike. The rates are budget-friendly, and the building has some nice lounge areas and a fully-equipped kitchen. Worth the stay!

This is the second time I have stayed here. Last time was December 2015 and this time was easter 2016. Both were climbing / mountaineering breaks with my climbing mate Dunc. The rooms are basic as you would expect for a youth hostel (after all you are not paying Hilton prices!). Our room had a single basin which was handy...

I have stayed here on quite a few occasions and can recommend booking it as the location is a few minutes walk from the railway station. They do food, have the usual self catering kitchen and is within easy staggering distance from many decent bars.

Interesting hostel. Run by close knit friendly team. Kept spick n span clearly with pride. Appears to have been recently modernised but somehow feels old fashioned. Good drying room and hot showers 👍 Red squirrel & bird feeding station a novel idea. Enjoyed my stay, thanks. ⛄️

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Surrounded by woodland, our youth hostel is situated on the boundary of the Cairngorms National Park, a short walk from Aviemore town centre and its bustling nightlife. The youth hostel itself is extremely peaceful, with great facilities. We are also ideally located for many outdoor activities year-round, such as snowsports, watersports and mountain biking. Most activities take place in the nearby Rothiemurchus Estate or on the Cairngorm mountain range. The area itself is host to a diverse range of wildlife, everything from red squirrels, deer, capercaillie, eagles and arctic hares. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
