We spent three nights at the Mercure Inverness Hotel in early November, as a group of four adults. We booked two Privilege Rooms and requested them to be riverside as we had read reviews complaining about noise on the city side of the hotel. When we arrived, walking from the Inverness Railway Station, we notice that the hotel was not particularly attractive from the outside. That didn’t matter though, since we would be inside. We checked in fairly quickly and were given our room keys. We were all happy with the size of the rooms and particularly with the lovely light filled bathroom. We had a decent river view, albeit overlooking the car park as well. Overall, for the price that we paid, we were fairly happy. We went downstairs to the well-stocked bar for the complimentary welcome drink that we receive as part of the Accor Plus program. A very nice glass of wine was enjoyed looking out over the River Ness. Breakfast was fine the next morning, although the coffee was absolutely dreadful. We did request coffee from the bar, which they kindly provided, as that that came out of the machine in the breakfast room was undrinkable to us. The hotel had no air-conditioning but since it was circa 4 degrees, it wasn’t an issue. The other major fault was a lack of bedside power for charging phones etc. Again though for the price and since we were only there two nights, it was no drama. Overall I would stay again and recommend the hotel for a short stay, so long as the temperatures were low.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so glad you enjoyed the service our team provided and the view of the lovely river. We do have air conditioned rooms on our 1st floor and this year we will be doing some works to the front of the building when the dry weather comes in of course. We hope to welcome you back again soon and show you the progress we have made. Sincerely Fraser Peterkin

brilliant hotel restaurant serves bistro style food and is a hidden gem staff really make you feel welcome especially zoe on reception and janine and madison in breakfast which was amazing. Bar has loads of choice and the fact room service is is all day and night means you don't really have to leave your room if relaxing on your own is your thing

Greeted at arrival by Kayleigh , very pleasant, who booked us in for a two day stop over. Main reason for stay was Barbara Dickson concert at the nearby Eden Court theatre close by. Hotel very central for City centre on your doorstep. Visited a couple of nearby restuarants the Mustard Seed which had terrible service. Hui Hui Mae on the other hand was excellent. Breakfast in the Hotel was ample to set anyone up for the day.

We had my father's 90th birthday tea party here. The service from the events team leading up to the event was excellent and the service from Bill and the F&B team on the day was outstanding. Some of us travelled and stayed overnight. The rate was good value and we had a lovely refurbished room overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable, room was clean and the breakfast food and service was very good.

I’m all for rustic and traditional, but this hotel is just unloved and tatty. Was up in Inverness to do a tour to Skye so just needed a base for two nights. At £55 a night (compact double) the price was reasonable, but I left feeling how do they attract people when rates are high in the summer? I booked via booking.com and I got spammed by the hotel via messages, offering me paid upgrades, meals, etc. The room was small but functional, hard pillows. Bathroom had clearly been refurbed and had a nice power shower. An essential for anyone travelling now is USB points or plugs by the bed, this hotel doesn’t offer this. I had 2 plugs on the desk and that was all! It’s 2024, hotel need to offer this as a priority. The occupancy of the hotel in January was really low and breakfast was a grim affair. Why they bother with a buffet when there’s so few in. Everything had been sitting there untouched and by the time I went down it wasn’t appetising at all. Only redeeming feature of the breakfast was the decent pastries. But look at the chairs in the restaurant, it’s just grim! Staff all seem pretty disinterested, checked out and didn’t check how my stay was, same at breakfast… pointed to a table and told me its self service! Budget hotels don’t have to be as depressing and miserable as this place. I wouldn’t return if you paid me…. Even a Travelodge is more appealing than this depressing dump. Avoid.

Horrendous stay, noise from street till 4am, called reception at 2.30 am who just stated website states noise from street and it would get better in next half hour. Paid for privilege room with fluffy dressing robes. Robe’s definitely not fluffy and only privilege was for Mercure taking money for sleepless night. Bedsheets stained and shower dodgy

I was initially very pleased with the quality of this hotel and also the food as we did eat in the bar the night that we stayed. We chose this hotel because it was pet friendly and we had our dog with us. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar which I could not fault however how anyone is expected to sleep with that racket going on outside from the nearby pubs/clubs I have no idea. Our dog was a bit distressed as a result of the noise and we couldn't calm him down so therefore was very sleep deprived ourselves. My husband had to take him out twice after 12 midnight which I was not happy about as there were numerous drunk people, people being sick, people shouting etc and also several police outside the hotel and I personally didn't feel it was safe for him to do so but alas he had no choice. I am writing this review at 2.10am waiting for my husband and dog to return. The music is still thumping away outside and the noise from the revellers is very loud. Unless you intend joining them I would not recommend you stay here.
