My friends and I had afternoon tea here and it was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We sat by the fire on couches and were very comfortable. The tea included sandwiches with four different fillings. Then there was a scone which came...More

The best thing about the Culloden is the staff. The grounds are immaculate and you can feel the history of the hotel. I just would say that if you are expecting new and updated, this is not your jam. Old drapery, wall paper, fixtures, and...More

So Sorry about your friend, Jan. We stayed at Culloden House with friends while we were visiting Scotland and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are old fashioned but the bed was very comfortable and there's room to spread out. Be warned though, there is no elevator so if you decide to stay and need to avoid a lot of stairs you might want to ask for a room on a low floor. Breakfast was yummy and the bar? Loaded with fabulous Scotch! It is a quick 3 mile drive to the battlefields from there. There is also a beautiful walled garden the the grounds of the manor a nice place to sit and meditate. Hope this helps.
