My partner and son and I were given a four bunk room only charged for three beds so we really had a private room. Excellent well maintained and clean facilities. Had a couple of issues with electronic card for our room door entry but the attentive staff gladly assisted and were empathetic. Highly recommend for families. Great WIFI in reception...

Bit of a walk from the bus stop in the centre of the city. Large, impersonal kitchen, not enough crockery. Lovely, helpful reception staff. Swipe card security to enter bedroom areas which I thought was good. Bedroom and showers clean enough. Six bedded dorm quite small with very little room for luggage.

The Inverness Youth Hostel ticks all the boxes for a hostel. It is cheap and it provides accommodation. However, it has some downsides. First it is absolutely huge, with hundreds of rooms, making the place impersonal. Second, it is quite far from the town centre. Third, the beds are really tiny. Personally, if staying in Inverness, I would look for...

We paid a return visit this month, after visiting the Outer Hebrides. The lass on Reception was friendly and helpful and our twin room was clean, with a good shower. I should think a little updating is on the cards, as the various areas are looking a little tired, but it was fine for a night or two - I'd...

The building is old and doesn't seem to be properly preserved. The bathrooms are a bit dirty, not practical at all (when you're taking a shower, it is hard to keep your clean clothes dry in the stall). The rooms curtains are barely worth the name, they are so thin you will certainly wake up with the sunshine at 4...

Second time I've stayed here this year and due back in a month for a canoeing trip. Not the most attractive or best positioned hostel you'll ever stay in but within easy walking distance of a couple of hotels, a Morrison's supermarket and 10-15 minutes walk to railway station and town centre. Typical SYHA hostel. Small dorms, few family rooms,...

Large outdated building that I can only assume use to be a hospital. Wifi only works downstairs in reception but wasn't working while we were there. Didn't use the kitchen so can't comment. Bathrooms were small but had hot water. Showers didn't drain properly but they didn't flood onto the floor. Thought the lady at reception was nice enough. Was...

The kitchen at Inverness was filthy. There was out of date food in the fridge and on the storage shelves there was a baking tray with some sort of cooked vegetable dish with mould growing on it. The smell from this was horrendous. When I mentioned this to the staff they immediately cleared it away and apologised that this hadn't...

As readers of my reviews will have noticed I like to stay in minimum 4 star accommodation so when I was involved in the recent World Orienteering Championship in Inverness and required to stay in the Inverness Youth Hostel I approached this with a considerable degree of trepidation. However I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. My room was a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Inverness Youth Hostel offers modern budget accommodation with superb facilities. The youth hostel also offers family friendly private en suite rooms, all of which are freshly decorated, warm and comfortable, with private lockers. Some rooms also have glorious views towards the Moray Firth. Inverness Youth Hostel offers meals but also has an excellent self-catering kitchen, making it popular with groups and families. The youth hostel has a warm welcome and buzzing atmosphere making it one of Scotland's top youth hostels in the capital of the Highlands. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
