This was a premature birthday dinner which provided unusual food and a relaxed, friendly, warming environment. I had a really interesting parsnip pannacotta to start (with a little pear and other garnish), followed by perfectly cooked medium rare venison served with beetroot, sweet potato and al dente green veggies. All the flavours complemented each other. Perfect. No room for dessert...

A friend and I stayed in the bunkhouse and it did exactly what it promised. Basic accommodation, prices to reflect that. Great location for a Ben Nevis climb, which is what we were doing and excellent advise and tips from the lovely owners. Stunning views of the peaks surrounding Ben Nevis. As there were only two of us, we had...

7 of us stayed in the Smiddy Bunkhouse for two nights, with a Ben Nevis visit being the primary purpose. The Bunkhouse is great value for money - it's not modern with state of the art facilities... it's a bunkhouse that provided cooking facilities (which we used), a place to sit and talk with friends, bathrooms, a drying room and...

I recently hired the Smiddy Bunkhouse for ten of us to stay in for two nights, when we trekked up Ben Nevis. The location is fantastic, being within a 10 minutes drive of the Ben Nevis Inn / Glenn Nevis Visitor Center. The facilities were good - comfortable beds, plenty of seating (although mostly wooden benches), a well equipped kitchen...

The beds were comfortable, the size of the kitchen was big enough with to stoves and all equipped although the showers were very difficult to adjust to the right temperature and after a long day walking around is pretty annoying finding that you can not have a proper shower. The owner was nice and the place was in general quite...

Booked the 3 bunkrooms of the Blacksmiths Hostel and found it great value and perfect for 12 blokes with wet and muddy kit at the end of the day. Plenty of space for cooking and eating - everyone can fit around the table. Microwave is older than me but it works. Beds are comfortable and the linen clean. Showers aren't...

My friends and I were staying in a 4 dorm ensuite room. With a huge living room with kitchen and a fire place. Staff is very friendly. The house is warm enough with the washing and drying room. It simply the best place to go for the money they ask. I will come back. For sure!

Nice staff. A nice house with a nice kitchen. The room is clean. The bed are clean too. The day we stayed is not a busy day. We were the only guests in one of the houses. We cook in the kitchen and we had our meals in the sitting room. It is a hostel, not a hotel. With the...

Stayed here two nights (two years on the run) whilst paddling the Caledonian canal twice with Snow Goose. The bunk house is well suited for the outdoor person or group and Great value for money. We booked as a party of seven, as part of the package with the parent company Snow Goose, bunk house, canoe and ancillary hire, drop...
