We took our mum here for mothers day, when we call up to book as it was such a busy weekend they told us we would be served in the bar area. However do not let this put this off if you ever book here - the bar area is stunning also and has such a lovely atmosphere. The service...

We have been several times before and visited again yesterday (25/2/17) for lunch. The service was, as usual excellent, the menu with small changes was also very good and we didn't have to wait an exceptional time to be served - unlike some others places we have been to. I would recommend the Lasagne and for the dessert, everyone should...

I stayed two nights here whilst visiting a sick relative, as I have before. The Chestnuts has a lovely homely atmosphere and excellent friendly staff. My single room was small, but adequate. I had a drink and dined in the bar alone on the first evening and was very well looked after. I chose Cullen Skink followed by Haggis 'Pie'...

I stayed 2 nights on business, had a single room with a single bed, a bit squeezy but the place is old. Very clean and comfortable, nice meals, reasonably priced, open fireplaces, helpful staff. Great collection of scotch water jugs. Parking. I'd stay again but in a bigger room.

Bar full of snooty old people. Avoid if you want somewhere friendly to drink. Manager attitude... 'there are people who want to eat so don't think about sitting down' Not a great welcome. Defiantly not what you want from the bar two doors along.
