Ennis, Ireland

A lovely old hotel in the centre of Ennis packed full of history - it was the jail in medieval times! The staff are professional experienced and ready to help. There are different nooks and crannies to hang out. The cost couches in the foyer beside the fire are a great meeting place. Coffee and scones served promptly are a...

My elderly parents stayed in this hotel this weekend. They have arrived home now and I have never seen them so happy with accommodation and service anywhere they have been. They have talked non stop about every single member of staff and they were so impressed that they believe that each staff member must have undergone specialist training. Their room...

5 starts. Great hotel, food was really decent, rooms were spotless and there was plug sockets beside the bed! (Such a small yet important thing...) staff were really lovely, Orla Kiely toiletries was a lovely touch. Free parking. Very reasonable rates, I'll definitely be back.

Visited Ennis in November for Trad Music Festival as I have every year bar one since 2005. Most years I have stayed in the Old Ground Hotel, only missing out on a few occasions, due to leaving it too late to book this very popular hotel. In general it is everything you want in a hotel, centrally located in a very...

A comfortable base for exploring Ennis and the surrounding area. The hotel is extremely popular and has three choices of places to eat - the public bar hosts a traditional music seisiún at the weekend starting around 10pm. Food was good though on a personal note some dishes lacked seasoning. Rooms were well appointed.

This is not a 4-start hotel. It is average at best. They have a nice website with excellent photography. But as soon as you walk in the door (with no one to assist with bags), you realized that you may have been deceived. It isn't that it is a bad place, just not as good as you are led to...

I stayed overnight at this hotel for a visit to my son and daughter in law. A very nice hotel, lovely rooms and a great location for walking anywhere around Ennis. Nice atmosphere and very efficient service. The breakfast was very good, although I thought a bit pricey on top of the room rate.

The Old Ground is one of your traditional Irish hotels. Owned by the Flynn family it lives up to its rating as a four star hotel. The formal diningroom is just that, a quality formal dining experience. The Town Hall is a more informal but still quality dining. The Poet's Corner is bar with a nice selection of dishes. The...

From the moment you register at the desk and continuing with the stay it is like being welcomed into a family. The room was wonderful, the hotel cleaners efficient and friendly. The meals are very good and the staff very helpful as my husband cannot eat anything with onions in. The waiting staff were fantastic. When we left I booked...

This is the third year for us at the Old Ground. Come back to Ennis every year in November for the Trad Music Festival. The Old Ground has everything you would want in a hotel. It has tradition, an older but impeccable feel, great service, great rraditional Irish food, a terrific full breakfast. My wife and I absolutely love this...
