The Hotel Woodstock Ascend Hotel Collection is widely commended for its clean, expansive rooms that boast striking views, though a handful of guests have noted they appear slightly dated. Nestled conveniently close to Thomond Park, its central location is a launchpad for discovering Co. Clare and attending local events.
While the service can fluctuate from exceedingly attentive to less professional at times, the hotel's ambiance is consistently characterized by a warm welcome and cozy common areas. Amenities, particularly the leisure centre, are generally celebrated, and the establishment is often considered to provide good value.

Detailed Reviews
We spent three nights at the hotel and we were very happy overall. We received a warm welcome from the man at reception and got all the information we could possibly need about the hotel and surrounding area. All staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful.
It was our wedding anniversary and a bottle of champagne and some small desserts were brought to our room minutes after we checked in. This was an unexpected and lovely gesture and was much appreciated.
Food was very nice and the portions were pretty big. Pricing was reasonable too. The menu could do with a bit more variety though.
The room was decorated nicely with modern furnishings but still has a touch of country house style, which was nice. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and a good size.
The only downside to our stay is that the door to the hallway is in no way soundproofed in any way at all. Every little noise makes it into the room and this was particularly annoying when children were running up and down the hallway shouting two early mornings in a row.
Regardless of the noise issue we enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay here again on a return trip.

Thank you for staying with us at Hotel Woodstock and for your fantastic review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. I will be sure to pass the kind words along to our team and know they will love hearing we exceeded your expectations. We are currently in the process of improving the soundproofing on the interconnecting doors to reduce the noise leakage in these rooms and I apologies for the inconvenience caused here. We hope you had a great trip overall and would love the opportunity to welcome you back on a future visit to Hotel Woodstock to explore all the wonderful attractions County Clare and the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who was thinking of travelling to Clare. The hotel itself was spotless and all the staff were wearing masks and were being Covid compliant. The food was delicious and the service was extremely fast. However the thing that really made the hotel special were the staff, from reception to waiters/waitresses and even the accommodation staff were amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and it was a lovely touch that the hotel owner and his son would always check in to make sure everything was up to standard and were very down to earth. It was a shame that the jacuzzi and steam room/sauna were closed and that you couldn't spend time in the bar without eating however, I understand with the situation at the moment that these rules are in place for the guests safety and room service was available with no extra charge. If I had any complaint it was that the decor could do with being updated and the bed in the room did not have a fitted sheet, just a flat sheet which kept falling off the bed and housekeeping did not clean the room during our stay which I am assuming has something to do with the Covid situation, however they did come around to ask us if we needed any towels or room service which was very thoughtful. We had such an amazing time that we decided to stay another night! I have stayed in a lot of hotels, some of them with very high ratings but have never enjoyed a stay as I did Hotel Woodstock, the staff and food really did more than make up for any other small deficiencies and we will definitely be returning!

I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to review Hotel Woodstock on your recent visit. We are a family run Hotel and connecting with our guests is at the core of what we do to give a true Irish Hospitality experience and I am delighted to see that you were able to experience this during your stay and I have passed your feedback onto the team here at the Hotel. I am delighted to have met you with our Son Oisin who is pursuing a career in Hotel Management in Shannon Hotel School. There are a few restrictions as a result of Covid and I am glad to see that it did not impinge on the enjoyment of your stay. There isn't a town or city to rival Ennis in Ireland with the amount of world class tourist attractions on our doorstep the majority of which are within a 30 minute drive from the Hotel. I am glad to see that we have your recommendation and hopefully you will return to stay with us again in the future. Kind Regards Sean and Elaine Lally Owner / Director Hotel Woodstock Ennis

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights Sat, Sunday and Monday this week. Facilities were excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Social distancing was no problem as the dining room, bar and foyer are spacious and airy with a lovely patio area outside also available to use. Sanitizing stations were everywhere along with signage emphazing the wearing of masks and social distancing. Our room was very comfortable and quiet at all times. Menu was varied and the food and service was top class. We had not stayed here previously and we choose it because of its proximity to the Burren National Park. We were not disappointed, it was just so convenient as we enjoyed great hikes in the area. We will be back!!!

We stayed here for a weekend in August.
The hotel is small and located in a quiet area outside of Ennis.
The room looked very clean although the key card pouch from a previous guest was still on the table.... not what I want to see when I arrive to a room especially at a time where disinfecting/sanitising is so important.
The pillows we had on the first night were really really flat and thin but the hotel provided additional when requested which resolved that issue.
The food at breakfast was really good but the service was chaotic to say the least. The girls taking orders/serving were doing their best but were not experienced. The first morning was very very busy so I thought it was because of that and chose a quieter time the following morning. There were 4 other guests in the breakfast room and the staff still seemed flustered. I asked for cornflakes but was handed Frosties (individual mini cereal box so the difference in packaging was obvious). When I pointed out that they were wrong, she handed them to my husband who already had his cereal. I had just poured the milk on my cereal when the hot food arrived at the table and parts of that were wrong. On the final morning, a different girl was working and breakfast ran like clockwork. She was much more experienced, everything was right and each element was delivered at the right time.
With a little more attention to detail the stay would have been much more enjoyable for us.

Honest review:
arrived too early for book in were told to go away till later which was fine as we had some things we wanted to do.
we asked could we book in for breakfast etc at this time as we wouldn't be back till later, to be told no but we could book into pool for evening.
guy at swimming pool was so nice and friendly, as was the young girl who was there that evening, pool area and dressing rooms nice and clean, gym is fantastic also very clean.
we were impressed by hotel lobby on our initial arrival, but... on return we opened the doors of the hotel to be greeted with a smoldering smell of smoke from the open fire, it was so bad, it flowed through the hotel corridors, our clothes and hair smelled of a camp fire.
We were then given the keys to our room only to find our room had full bins, someone had clearly had a wash in bathroom (soap opened towel on side, toilet dirty). This was our first time away post covid we were nervous enough, and this was just not good enough in the times we are in.
Reported this to reception and it was looked after ASAP, we were offered a drink in bar while waiting for room to be cleaned, Staff were very apologetic.
We sat up stairs on lobby had a coffee that evening but smoke was so bad obviously because we were higher we ended up returning to our room.
We booked a family room 2 ad 1 child, bnb, 366e 2 nights, the child is 10 to be told on second morning we would have to pay 6e for the child's breakfast as it was not included in price, I found this completely unacceptable 'family room' bnb, but does not include your child. Who to be fair ate ceral both mornings.( this charge was then waived).
Hotel needs a good clean, the dust is visible on light fixtures on corridors, dust on top of vending machine at bottom of stairs (I know who cares about top of vending machine, but it's the attention to detail that is missing in this hotel that has so much potential) the doors are grubby windows need cleaning.
Also when people are seated at tables all condiments should be on tables prior, sugar, milk butter... Etc, Staff were making 2 and 3 trips to table which is not very practical or efficient.
Staff we very good, the young lady on reception was excellent, the leisure centre staff excellent, manager very personable.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here yesterday for our anniversary and we were highly disappointed! First of all when we arrived to reception and got our keys, they didn’t work we had to send them back 3 times! The room looked nothing like the picture and when I booked a “superior king”, I expected it to be somewhat better than a standard room. The bedside lamp wouldn’t work, the mirror was hanging crooked off the wall, toilet seat was hanging off, no bath mat, no tea/coffee facilities as stated, no glasses for any drink. Furniture was outdated and the room was very cold on arrival also and radiator wouldn’t work.
When booking we were given the option to book a dinner for 4 courses €29 per person! I reserved a table and when we sat down we were told it’s only on Saturdays!

Dear Rambeler2k20 I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to review Hotel Woodstock on Tripadvisor on your recent visit. It is always our goal to ensure that our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay with us, and it’s very frustrating for us to learn of issues like this. While we never like to receive negative feedback we do appreciate all guest comments as they can only help us to improve as a business. There is no excuse the maintenance issues you experienced in your bedroom and we have initiated retraining in the accommodation department as a result of your feedback. As a family run Hotel customer service is at the very core of what we offer and clearly this did not happen during your stay and I wish I could reverse the clock and undo the damage but clearly, I cannot and I would like to ensure that no future guests have a similar experience. Hopefully you will give us another chance at some stage in the future to redeem ourselves. Kind Regards Sean and Elaine Lally Owner / Director Hotel Woodstock Ennis Tel 00353 65 689 9800

I visited this hotel last year as a treat for my sister and mom and it was a terrible experience. The room looked nothing like the picture on their website and our room was terrible, there was a big stain on the lampshade, marks on the walls, cobwebs, old fashioned curtains the list goes on. It was so bad we had to change. Dinner was also not up to standard of a supposedly 4* hotel as we got served frozen vegetables with our main. I had put an honest review up after my visit and shortly after the owner Mr. Lally contacted me apologising about my experience and asked me to take down the reviews and give the hotel another chance and he offered me a complementary stay which I accepted. After trying to rebook my stay twice I was told both times that the hotel was busy and he suggested I stay on a weekday instead of a weekend which didn’t work for me as I live in the UK and wouldn’t be able to come back during the week. I then decided to decline his offer of a complementary stay and put my reviews back up and he sent me a very upsetting email in which he said I was using “bullying tactics” and he was delighted that I wouldn’t be returning. I wonder where he has learned about customer service? I would not recommend this hotel as I feel like they are falsely advertising their rooms and the customer service is terrible.

Dear Deirdre thank you for your review on Hotel Woodstock when you visited in March 2019. I note this is your second review in the last week as I previously responded to last weeks review which you have since deleted. I know you have pointed out a number of issues about your room and the food during your stay with us and I contacted you after I read your review at the time and we agreed that you would give us another chance if you had a complimentary stay and in good faith I agreed with this. With regards to your feedback on your initial review and on your stay we have replaced all the bedheads that were worn and we were in the middle of doing this during your stay, we have upgraded all the en-suites in our Hotel bedrooms and changed a number of the carpets in the Hotel bedrooms, added new throws and cushions to the bedrooms and continue to spend money on the Hotel each year. I know you have put up a photo of a children’s pull-out bed on the original review and on investigation of your booking through a third party site you did not book a triple room but a family room instead which includes a children’s pull out bed. We also always offer cheaper rates on the Hotels website and have rooms that can accommodate 3 adults. You subsequently in the last 18 months tried to book on 2 occasions over weekends when we were fully booked and I didn’t have any rooms to offer you on your most recent mail this week you told me that you should be allowed book when you liked as you lived in London and were not flexible as you only came home to Clare every so often to visit your family and I am afraid I would not book out some other guests to cater for your room on a night when we were fully booked. You have in your new review attached communications from the Hotel to paint a one sided story but you neglected to elaborate on was your communications with the Hotel insisting that you have one of the nights that we were fully booked or you were posting reviews everywhere. You also didn’t elaborate on my offer of 8 alternative dates around your requested date including weekend dates when you could avail of your complimentary stay however you did not wish to acknowledge this or look at any other alternative dates. I did speak to you in the restaurant while you were having dinner during your stay and you didn’t say anything about your meal or your room not been up to standard at the time when I asked you about this on the follow up call you said that you didn’t think I was the Manager or the Owner which was unusual as I introduced myself to your table. We do not use frozen vegetables in the Hotel and have a good reputation for food and have in the last few months won best Wedding venue in Clare and again we would not have received this accolade if we had a problem with our food quality. I am not saying that we are perfect we are far from it and we do make mistakes and get things wrong but when we do, we try and rectify things to ensure that they don’t occur again in the future. As a family run Hotel we take constructive feedback very seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve our offering at the Hotel and as you can see I feel that we have addressed the issues that you have highlighted during your stay. I am genuinely sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us in March 2019 as our business is all about creating positive experiences and clearly this did not happen in your case however I was not prepared to book out a guest and give in to your threats of posting reviews in online forums if your request was not accommodated so I will leave it up to the readers to make up their own mind on you review. Kind Regards Sean Lally Owner / Director Hotel Woodstock Ennis Tel 00353 65 689 9800

Staff wasn't overly friendly, and breakfast was not well organised either,we had to wait at least 20min for waiting someone to take our orders, the portion was also ridiculous ,for that price.
Could not sleep well, walls very thin,we could hear at 2am neighbour was partying and we had to complain at the reception to tell them keep it down .
For €120 we would expect a we bit more professionalism from this hotel.

Hello 945susannag I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to review Hotel Woodstock on Tripadvisor on your recent visit and first and foremost I would like to apologise on behalf of the Hotel. We are a family run Hotel and connecting with our guests is at the core of what we do to give a true Irish Hospitality experience and I am sorry that this did not happen during your stay with us and I have passed your feedback onto the team here at the Hotel. We did initially have a few service issues around breakfast service which we have now sorted out under the new restrictions as a result of covid 19. It was most unfortunate that the guests in other bedrooms were making noise we do have full-time night porter in the Hotel at night and if this issue occurs he immediately calls the room to ensure there is no noise I am not sure if you called reception to report this disturbance. Hopefully you will give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves at some stage in the future. Kind Regards Sean and Elaine Lally Owner / Director Hotel Woodstock Ennis Tel 00353 65 689 9800

Stayed her the start of September with my partner, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There was stains all over the carpets and curtains and the people outside playing gold had full view into our room. We also booked the restaurant a few days prior to be told it’s full and got a table in the busy bar, the food was unsatisfactory the only thing I could compliment is the staff. It is no where near a four star standard hotel would not recommend

Stayed at the Woodstock Hotel from the 4th to 6th June in a deluxe room. There was a sizable stain on the carpet in bedroom. Our first night in the hotel we noticed there was no remote for TV, Husband went down the next day and requested a remote. The remote was left in our room wrapped in a plastic bag that said "fresh remote", we took it out of the bag and it was remote was caked in dust and what looked like dried up sauce- clearly this remote had not been cleaned, it also did not work. When returned to reception to tell the lady on reception that it didnt work, he was told that there was no other remote and "do you really need to watch the TV anyway", which came off as a bit rude and didn't solve the problem. The lifts goin up to bedrooms were dirty and full of finger prints: in need of clean! The food in the restaurant and bar were good.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your review on your recent stay with us at Hotel Woodstock. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologise for failing to exceed your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to make improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guests in the future. Apologies about the carpet and the remote controls well as the cleanliness of the lift. We are continuously upgrading the Hotel and sometimes wish we had a magic wand and get it all sorted overnight but unfortunately it doesn’t work like this. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves at some stage in the future and I am glad to see that you were impressed with the food in the bar and the restaurant. Kind Regards, Sean and Elaine Lally Owner / Director Hotel Woodstock Ennis Co Clare
