I had an amazing stay here with my girlfriend. The room was really comfortable, the location was so central and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here! There was a beautiful restaurant on site with a fantastic variety on the menu for both dinner and brunch. The quality of the food was exceptional. The hotel has really nice boutique / chic vibe and is far removed from the corporate look and feel of a chain. Top marks for a great stay!

First the good: it’s undoubtedly a great location. A short walk to everything. And the room was clean. Now the bad: The room, while clean, was appointed in a rather spartan manner. Specifically, there was literally no place to place our large suitcases such as a suitcase stand. This could have been mitigated had there been some kind of furniture piece with a few drawers (other than the desk and night stands) but alas, there was not. Another issue was the shower. It had one of those flimsy curtains that would contract into the tub enclosure when the water is running and stick to your body while you tried to bathe. Perhaps the biggest issue of all was the bed. Now, I didn’t book the room. My wife did, as she always does when we travel to the EU because she likes to do the research and has an amazing record of picking out great hotels. She booked a “standard king room” at the Hyde. It turned out, much to our surprise that a king bed is really a double bed-way smaller than we expected and way smaller than we have ever experienced in our travels to Europe. As much as we love each other we need to have more bed real estate for a good night’s sleep. As far as the breakfast is concerned, I would recommend not paying the extra and going off property to eat. With the number of restaurants in close proximity it should be pretty easy to find something more satisfying .

Booked a king room. The bed was queen size. Complained and got a lesson about euro king vs the king we were expecting . Was told this is what they offer in Ireland and throughout Europe . Funny thing is this is the third hotel we’ve stayed at in Ireland and 1st bed that was like this… and have travelled extensively through Europe and have never had a bed this small that is supposed to be a king. Breakfast was not worth the price and the “courtyard view” was the roof of a smaller building.

The accommodation was great. We had to wait 30 minutes to get served breakfast. When we complained it arrived immediately. The scrambled egg had a crust on it from being left out. The whole breakfast was cold and was not cooked fresh.

I stayed here with friends as part of a classy hen weekend. This boutique hotel is fabulous. The team are lovely and helpful. The food was delicious and the decor needs to be seen. Location is central and a 2 minute walk from the train station. Already planning a trip back with my partner.

Our suite was fantastic and all food and beverage we had were top notch. What for us all what stood out the most was every member of staff.... each and everyone were beyond pleasant , helpful, professional and most importantly they were all welcoming . Centrally located Galway hotel, fast and efficient check-in. The first problems started with the room: the bathroom needs a deep renovation, there was a noticeable crack between the tub and the wall and above all the toilet flush didn't work properly. Another big problem was the breakfast which is served in the adjacent bar (moreover very popular in the evening): there is no buffet and the "à la carte" orders include very few choices with no possibility of having a sweet one, I was very annoyed by the fact that the waitress told me I could go buy something sweet at a pastry shop two blocks away. Another unacceptable thing from my point of view was discovering that cappuccino and sparkling water were not included. I was very disappointed, I have always traveled around the world and I think that for more than 300 euros a night you have to offer much more

I am pleased to learn that you found our reception team to be fast and efficient receiving a prompt check in upon arrival. I am sorry to learn of the concerns you experienced with your bathroom and that these maintenance issues had not been identified and attended to prior to your arrival. Pro's: Great check in staff. Comfortable mattress. Location is great for Galway city Con's: Bathroom dated and a bit dirty. Shower curtain is too long. Hot, stuffy room and no aircon or fan. Too noisy to open the window (we had a room at the front of the hotel) No shampoo, etc - only body wash No iron/board Lots of noise from corridors and neighbouring rooms We paid a lot for the room so were quite disappointed with what we got for the price (although we did stay over NYE)

Dear SarahS2310 Thank you for taking the time to post your review following your recent stay with us here at the Hyde Hotel. Your feedback is very much appreciated. I am delighted to see you found the hotel to be well located within Galway City, finding our reception team to be great and had a comfortable nights sleep, I am however disappointed to learn of your concerns outlined above which does not live up to our usual high standards. I had a hospital appointment and decided to travel down from Donegal the evening before. I rang the Hotel and Amy advised on the best deal. When I arrived we had been upgraded. It was beautiful and made such a difference to our anxious state. There was a little card wishing us good luck plus some hand made chocolates. We had dinner which was delicious and couldn't praise the staff enough. It is also in a really good location just off Eyre Square. A five star stay for us. We would definitely book it again.

I would rate 2.5 if that was an option. Bathroom: +/-Mattress was comfortable;however, the bedding was far too heavy for weather conditions and the mattress was very warn out/sunken in where you get in and out of bed. -Shower curtain far too long for the shower and it was filthy. +Good shower pressure. -Shower is made for a short person, I am not tall and I had to hunch over. -Water in sink sprays all over you. -Bathroom fan ran constantly, it never went off. Breakfast: -Waiter was rude. I waited far too long for a below average breakfast. -Breakfast brought to table, only a few items to choose from...no fresh pastries or bread, just poor quality store bought bread that was overly toasted. -Extremely poor quality fruit bowl. -Unnecessary chemical scents plugged in outlets around the hotel.
