My family and I booked 4 rooms for a family weekend in June. The stay was a disaster, only for it was our first trip altogether since covid, we had got a deal and we were delighted just to be away we would have made a lot more complaints. When I arrived I got the room key and went to my room with my fiancé and there was a cot set up in our room. At no stage had we ever requested this and I thought that was v bad form and could be upsetting as I have a lot of friends who struggle with fertility issues and it would not be pleasant for them to arrive to that. On the first night I had requested dinner in the bar for 9 people and had emailed several times to confirm booking. When we arrived we were told our table wasn't ready and that there was someone disabled at our table who couldn't be moved. It was a full hour before we got our table only after I went over three times to them and on the final time had to explain I had my oap parents one of who suffers with dementia and a 4 year old waiting to go to bed. Why should we have to beg , bother pre booking and have to tell personal matters to be treated like that. After we got the table, 15 minutes later was so fed up I got up and got the menus from the unit beside us. It was another 30 minutes before our orders were taken, we were so weak with the hunger I don't even know how much longer it took for the dinner to arrive. We attempted to call the manager over but she kept ignoring us. When we got a jug of water we got no glasses, I had to go to bar and get them. Eventually, the manager came and apologised, offered a free round of drinks but again the drinks took an hour to come!! Total and utter disaster, this was a 4 star hotel. The next day we had booked breakfast times but they all went out the window and it was just a big long queue. The breakfast we ordered was put down at an empty table. We were dreading dinner in the restaurant that night but as we were on a package deal we didn't want to loose out. Our waitress was Regina and she was amazing. She literally saved the whole trip for us all. She looked after us really well, took our orders on time, checked in with us regularly and was so lovely and friendly. Unfortunately, at breakfast the next morning, we didn't have Regina so was back to usual crack. My brother in law is coeliac and asked did they have gluten free toast and requested gluten free toast and poached eggs. He was handed gluten free toast and poached eggs on regular toast. He is not following some fad diet and can get seriously sick if he eats gluten. Another bug bearer of mine is the staff bring out fries etc to our table and never clear away the breakfast bowls or used cutlery, makes it very squashy then for a table of four. Would be reluctant to stay here again, it's not a 4 star experience. …

I highly recommend this place, I love this hotel every time I visit Galway, the swimming pool, the bar, and the staff, it is infant of the sea so you have amazing views to the Galway bay and at night you can walk by the beach.

I was in the Salthill hotel for 3 weddings in September. The staff were excellent, from the managers, receptionists to the bar staff, all were top notch. Ollie who caters to all the weddings is great craic and brilliant at his job. Tommy the barman is the sharpest man behind the counter, he is so on the ball and incredibly friendly. He's the best bar man in the country!
