Kilkenny was our first stop on our trip to Ireland with 2 families including 4 kids. We couldn't have picked a better place for our medieval experience! It is right in the heart of town with one side facing the town streets and the other side adjacent to gardens with the Kilkenny castle view. We had great rooms and excellent...

We stayed for one night at Butler House, Kilkenny and it was a mixed experience. The location is part of the Kilkenny Castle facilities (you even get breakfast in the Castle Yard) and the Garden is really beautiful. Unfortunately the double bed room was quite tiny and to the front/street. The bathroom was spacious, nearly the size of the bedroom....

We spent one night here in June, 2015 and so wished that we'd planned differently and could have stayed longer. The room was so spacious with a completely separate living area and kitchen. The views from the room was beautiful, overlooking the gardens and Kilkenny Castle. And for the price, I thought it was a very good deal. I will...

Yesterday I was a bridesmaid for my best friend. Butler House was just perfect. The staff were so lovely. They made our morning magical. The room we had the ceremony in was beautiful...the grounds outside afterwards provided the perfect backdrop to the champagne reception and was a stunning setting for the photographs. Perfect Perfect Perfect!!!

Beautiful hotel, spacious bedroom with very large bathroom. Staff were lovely as was the food and view. The gardens were lovely to walk around and the fire in the lobby was perfect addition. Situated in the heart of Kilkenny, what more could you ask for!

Incredible find. Right in the heart of Kilkenny with the charm & ambience of a countryside retreat. The gardens are stunning & the breakfast will keep you going for the day. Must mention the receptionist, couldn't be more helpful. Superb all around.

Kilkenny was our last stop in Ireland before returning to Dublin for our flight home. The Butler House was the perfect finish for the trip. Originally, the building was the home of the Earls of Ormonde. After an extensive renovation a few years ago (seen in photos on the walls of the flights of stairs) it now consists of a...

Wonderful reception and central to many sights. You must look carefully for where to turn to get in. We had presidential suite which was two very, very large rooms, and include a small kitchenette and bath. Much more room than we would ever need, but nice. This is a very, very old place, so lots of squeaky floors and doors....

This hotel was one of my favorites on the trip last October (2014). It is in the heart of the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny, right across from the castle. I recommend getting a room that overlooks the garden and castle rather than one overlooking the city street. It was perfectly quiet, and we loved looking out at the castle...
