Very sweet and helpful hosts who spent time going over maps and helping us research bus schedules. They had a fire ready for us with selections of tea and coffee that were much appreciated after a long day. The property is in a rural area with very peaceful sleeping conditions. The only downside is that driving can be a little...

Excellent, very sweet and helpful hosts. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the location. It's a bit off the beaten path and you have to drive to get into Kilkenny city for dinner, pubs, etc. Roads are very dark and narrow at night and it's a little hard to see from the road. Rooms were spacious though,...

We stayed at Newlands Lodge for a single night as part of our driving trip around Ireland. As soon as we got there, we felt at home, with Mairead going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We were welcomed with tea and delicous pastries. She suggested a restaurant in town for us to have dinner, and we got...

This was one of the last stops of our honeymoon in June and I'm so glad we got the opportunity to stay here. We drove up to the property and a beautiful lodge awaited us; a cute sunroom sat out front and a putting green adorned the lawn. Mairead greeted us at the door and she was lovely! She and...

Newlands Lodge was in a perfect country setting with only a short 10 minute drive to the center of Kilkenny. The hosts, Mairead and Jimmy, went out of their way to point out local attractions and places to eat and make dinner reservations for us. The rooms were spacious, and impeccably decorated with such attention to detail. There were even...

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in September and would recommend a return. The room was open and spacious and had very modern bathroom updates. The breakfast was great and the owners were friendly with great ideas for sightseeing. Even if they had answered the same questions before, their guidance on GPS coordinates/historic viewing/restaurants were very good. We spoke...

My husband and I stayed here for one night, and really enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious and comfortable, and Mairead was so welcoming. We loved sitting by the fire in the lounge and warming up with some tea and cake. The breakfast was also great. One thing to keep in mind as you plan your itinerary: the...

Having just spent a Saturday night at the Newlands Lodge, I feel compelled to write and spread the word of this little gem of a B&B. Being a bit off the beaten track on the outskirts of Kilkenny, we had a little problem finding it but I'll chalk it up to my error having tried to find it after a...

Mairead and Jimmy are wonderful hosts in their lovely home. They were very helpful before and during our trip to be sure that our visit to Kilkenny was all that we wanted it to be. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute, from our beautiful and well appointed room to the cozy guest lounge with a warm fire...

My wife and I had a wonderful 2 night stay with Jimmy and Mairead. They are wonderful hosts, providing a very welcoming home away from home in the quiet countryside just outside of Kilkenny. Great suggestions, recommendations and directions were provided before our arrival and during our stay to help us feel like locals. We were excited to also discover...
