While guests have called out the Great National South Court Hotel for not delivering value for money, pointing to dated facilities and overpriced accommodations, many have praised its spacious and immaculate rooms. The hotel's atmosphere, complete with live music, has been generally well-received despite some criticism of lackluster decor.
Service at the hotel is often described as friendly and professional, although the dining experience receives mixed reviews. Diverse food options and the overall cleanliness of the hotel, including pristine bathrooms, are highlights for many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed for one night and found the hotel clean and comfortable if a bit dated. Covid precautions were in place and were taken seriously in the bar when serving food and drinks in the evening.
Not so at breakfast. The food is served at a buffet and social distancing is non existent. Tea, coffee and toast is provided in a small room with people on top of each other. Tea is served from flasks that everybody touches. Same with the toaster.

Had a terrific dining experience in Off The Bone bar/restaurant , value for money, all safety protocols were adhered to, social distancing; contact-tracing procedure was in place, meals and drinks served efficiently with excellent customer relations by staff. The standard of hygiene is outstanding.
Well done to Dermot and his team, very visible the amount of work that was continuously demonstrated in safety procures to ensure staff and customers are safe while enjoying their stay or business at the South Court Hotel. Looking forward to my next visit soon Bernadette

Dear Bernadette, Thank you so very much for taking the time to write us your review. I very much appreciate it. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us and you felt that it was evident we had worked hard to ensure our guests have a safe and comfortable experience during the pandemic, this was of the utmost importance to us. Thank you again for your lovely comments regarding dining at Off The Bone Gastropub also. I look forward to welcoming you back to Great National South Court Hotel very soon. We have just spent a week at the South Court hotel. It was during the heatwave and thankfully we upgraded our room to a suite with air-conditioning. The room was large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable for a week’s stay. When I requested an ironing board, an iron and coat hangers they were delivered to the room quickly. The breakfasts were excellent, the Indian restaurant superb and all the staff were extremely friendly. The hotel is perfectly situated with shops and cafes within a few minutes walk. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit our family in Clarina.

Just keep from a night away at the hotel. Lovely welcome at reception. Spacious clean room with comfy bed. Food at both evening meal and breakfast was really good but service was absolutely shocking and covid precautions in the restaurant were practically non existent!it was quite busy at the evening meal and the hotel was ill prepared and did not have enough staff on. 20+ lads in the sunroom having a right oul time but with no table service for them they were allowed to congregate around the bar 4 or 5 at a time to get a drink which was quite close to our table and none of them believed in wearing a mask!! Why are u not policing this basic rule? When they needed to use the bathroom or go to the smoking room they were allowed to Swan through the restaurant without masks and at breakfast this morning it was the same! Also, unfortunately because so much attention was given to them at the bar everyone else in the restaurant suffered. Our food took forever and forget it if u needed another drink! It's not like u couldn't anticipate how busy it was going to be. With the level 3 restrictions it was only residents allowed and we had to have our meal booked in advance as requested by the hotel. I wouldnt recommend a stay here. There is alot of work to be done with regard to service and covid precautions

Had a fantastic experience in the bar/restaurant today. Loved the atmosphere in the room and we were made feel welcome from the moment we walked in by the manager and bar staff. The menu had a fantastic selection and all our meals surpassed expectations. The kids menu had a large selection, about 7/8 options and at a very reasonable price. We couldn’t pass on dessert and we’re so glad that we didn’t as the homemade sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie were divine. Looking forward to coming back here again soon.

Booked this hotel as I was working and my wife wanted to be within walking distance to the Crescent shopping centre. We did B&B and despite booking directedly I think we got one of the more outdated rooms and not the nice modern ones shown on the website. Still, the room was large with two small double beds but soo hot. Radiator had to go off and window open. Reception and staff were very plesent and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style but you don't help yourself, a staff member plates up for you. Food tastes like it has been cooked for hours so I tend to give it a miss. We had dinner in the on-site Indian restaurant and it was amazing. Best Indian food in a long time.

We booked late on Thursday evening to stay Friday and Saturday. The check in was very easy and the receptionist was very friendly. Our bedroom was spotless and roomy with a couch. The bed and pillows I found quite hard which would be my only downer but that's just my opinion. Breakfast was a hot buffet style which they served to you, cereal, fruit and toast etc you helped yourself.
The 1st night we ate in the bar, steakhouse style restaurant. Everything was very tasty, we had carpacio and mussels to start and steak and salmon for mains.
The 2nd night we ate in the Curryhouse Indian restaurant, hands down one of the best Indian restaurants we've been to. Tandoori chicken main is to dye for. The indian tasting plate to start is delicious and the kulfi Indian style icecream was also amazing. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall we had a fantastic stay here we would definitely return, it's a fab base for touring the region.

Our work group went to The Curry house in late 2019 we all enjoyed it so much most of the group requested to return there for our Christmas night out. We got outstanding service from Danny and the other waiters although it was very busy on both nights. The food was very good. The surroundings were spotless and the atmosphere was very good. Very convenient for parking and access to motor way. Keep up the good work we will be back. Catherine.

Firstly, location is excellent for visiting the area without being in the city centre. Check-in was, I wouldn't say abrupt but lacking in warmth , very matter of fact. Room was huge, comfortable and flat screen TV with all the main channels . The heat in the room was stifling, the Rad was absolutely hopping off the wall. I had the window open to get some air in but Reception did send someone to turn off the heating in the room. But even still with the window open till midnight I still awoke at 3.30 in an uncomfortable sweat which from there sleep was near impossible.
I dined in the Off the Bone Bar and I was very happy with the meal and service i received plus was very good value. Portion sizes were huge.
Breakfast was disappointing though. Filter coffee was simply dreadful and the pity was there was a fine coffee machine with no coffee beans on the table? Nice selection of yogurts but left on a table so were not chilled by 8am, Pre-cooked hot breakfast which by 8am didn't look very appetizing .

Whilst the room itself was huge, with sofa, dining table, desk, fridge etc the soundproofing is awful, I could hear conversations from another room at 3am.
The cleanliness could have been better - hairs in the bathroom & pillow that smelt of perfume/cologne.
Won't be returning
