The Limerick Strand Hotel boasts a vibrant atmosphere that many guests find appealing, although a handful have commented on the loud music and dated decor. Service is typically met with high regards, with staff noted for their kindness and efficiency, though not without rare complaints of subpar service. While praised for its prime location and cleanliness, opinions on value are divided, with some guests feeling that the food prices and experience don't match the cost.
Amenities are generally celebrated, especially the well-equipped rooms, yet some suggest the need for maintenance. Noise levels can be problematic for some due to events.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here on Thursday night in room 410 with a great side view out to the river. Room was spacious and very well equipped. Theres an armchair and floor to ceiling window to enjoy the view. Theres also a very handy lounge on the 4th floor with a range of refreshments. Susan on reception was a pleasure to deal with and gave us a great welcome. There were hand sanitizers all over the hotel and all tables in the restaurant were well spaced out. Food in the restaurant was very good and we found it good value for a 4 star hotel. Try and book a window table for a view out over the river. Andy & Hugh looked after us very well in the bar and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of items to order. We didnt have the pancakes but heard a few people compliment them. Again the staff at breakfast were excellent. We were also very impressed with how they were dealing with the new regulations. Really enjoyed the stay here. Thought it was a lovely location, on the river , easily walkable to centre, lovely bedroom & fantastic staff. We would have no hesitation recommending a stay here and we will definitely return.

We had such a great time at the Strand. The food was lovely and the room was really nice. We felt really safe with all the Covid-19 measures taken around the hotel and with the delivery of fresh towels etc outside the room each day. We would also recommend booking an executive room, it was handy to grab sweet treats or herbal teas during the day in the longue. All individually wrapped. We really couldn't recommend the Strand enough. It really made us feel relaxed before the madness of Christmas. Thanks to all the staff for their hospitality.

We were seriously impressed with this hotel's Covid19 policies. All staff wore masks all the time; distancing and sanitising measures were excellent and we felt very safe.
On top of all that, we had a lovely room on the 5th floor with amazing views over the city and the Shannon. The breakfasts were delicious - again there were excellent safety measures in place - breakfast slots had to be booked in advance, tables were very well distanced, there was a buffet counter with distancing/one-way system in place and a staff member serving behind the hot food counter.
We had dinner in the restaurant one evening. The menu wasn't particularly imaginative but the food was very tasty.
The staff at the Limerick Strand are their biggest asset. Despite working in difficult times, they were all unfailingly friendly and helpful.
I love Limerick city and I will definitely return to the Strand.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in an executive room. The room was spotless and nicely decorated. Large comfortable bed. Our only issue was the heat!! The room was very warm and the air conditioning system unfortunately blowing out hot air only!! However the staff addressed our issues immediately and moved us to a different room where the air conditioning system was better but still not cold enough for me. All food at this hotel was delicious with very courteous and friendly staff. Covid protocols were in evidence all around the hotel with staff all wearing face masks and guests required to wear masks while moving throughout the hotel. There were plenty of hand sanitisation stations throughout the hotel so this was quite reassuring. The added benefit of the executive lounge was cool as snacks and drinks were available throughout the day free of charge with canapés and wine served around 6pm. The hotel is quite central with a short stroll over the bridge bringing you to the main shopping areas. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We just returned from an 8 day long stay around Ireland’s South-West. We decided to stay 2 nights in the Strand which was excellent. We stayed here a few years ago and on return it was great to see the hotel had kept up with maintenance and cleaning of the hotel, it’s like it’s brand new. Now more than ever with covid the cleaning staff are important and the Strand’s cleaning staff are excellent!
The Junior Suites in the front of the building are very large rooms with stunning views of the river Shannon and Limerick city.
The reception, bar and restaurant staff are all very friendly and professional.
Right outside the door of the hotel is a Limerick Bike stand, we got a cheap 3 day ticket and used the bikes to get a round. There is a beautiful cycle path (no traffic once you get to the Lock pub) all along the Shannon our to UL, it’s really worth doing and activity. Kayaking in the Shannon is fantastic also.
On weekend evenings there was live music on the boardwalk bandstand across the river from the hotel, lovely to sit in one of the restaurants and enjoy the atmosphere.
Limerick and the Strand are really worth a visit!

We spent two days in this hotel and it was really impressive. From our arrival we saw lots of effort put into making people covid safe. The reception staff gave us a big smiley welcome and all staff took the time to say hello and chat when possible. Breakfast and dinner were so nice and it was a treat to be served after months of taking care of the kids at home. This was a great unwind. The pool was lovely and the area was very clean. Bedroom was very nice and seemed really new or fresh with lots of towels and also robes that we had to wear when walking in our gear down to the pool. Breakfast was a great set up with good selection but could have had more staff cleaning up and tidying for next guests . the server Josh was a gem so friendly and efficient. We will definitely return.

It was very dissapointing stay. We booked the hotel based on the location avd restaurant (as per photos and reviews) our executive expensive room was really basic, one of the lamp was broken, internet on TV was slow so streaming music on YouTube was a nightmare, shower had broken doors. The restaurant experience was even worse. We booked out table in advance, but restaurant was empty anyway. Very unprofessional young staff, they gave us a menu, we chosen our food to be told 15 minutes later the menu was wrong. They gave us new very basic menu, not much choice anyway. We were told the other menu was not any longer available. We were dissapointed but hungry so we stayed. Half way our food, other table received the menu we were told was not any longer available. I asked for explanation but received some stupid comment. Again staff young, not friendly at all. A bit lost. Breakfast was nice, but instead of staying longer as we planned and enjoy another lunch meal, we checked out early and left the space. The hotel has no atmosphere, definitely not a 4 star rating. Dated, small, bar avd restaurant dissapointed. Photos of the tartace with drinks, well nothing like that was even available. I wouldn't reccomend it avd I wouldn't come here again. €310 per night was a complete waste

Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback but naturally I am disappointed to read about your recent experience I am surprised at some of your comments about no atmosphere and a small dated bar and restaurant. Our bar and restaurant is a large modern space that can seat over 200 people comfortably. It overlooks the river Shannon on 3 sides and has lovely garden open windows on the other side. Just 4 months ago the entire space underwent a huge transformation and we get many comments on how beautiful , bright and modern the space is, so your comments are most unusual. Our WIFI is also very fast and reliable and complaints about WIFI speed are very rare I would really appreciate if you would contact me directly to discuss further as the experience you describe is certainly not what we aim to provide ............... stephen.oconnor@strandlimerick.ie Best Regards Stephen O Connor General Manager

Booked in with pigsback for a 2 night stay with breakfast and one night dinner. Very polite staff at check in. Arrived to our room was surprise at how large and spacious it was. Room had ironing board and iron, hairdryer, fridge, kettle and full sized mugs. Bathroom was very large with a shower and bathtub great water pressure in shower and lovely paul costello toiletries. Had plenty of towels and 2 bathrobes. The breakfast was delicious in the morning only downside was that the toast and tea and coffee took a long time to be brought down to the table. Enjoyed our meal in the reastraunt that night food was delicious. We moved down to the bar area after dinner and was served by Micheal who made sure we had a great night! The next morning we opted for breakfast in bed it was extremly easy to organize as they had a card in the room that you simply filled out and hung on your door. Overall great experience!

Ideally located on the banks of the Shannon a short stroll across the bridge into the city The Strand commands beautiful views from its restaurants and bedrooms. We had an executive room on the fourth floor with panoramic floor to ceiling views of the city and surrounding hills. The room was spotless with plenty amenities and a good sized bathroom with separate bath/shower. These rooms also come with access to the executive lounge where 24 hour soft drinks and hot drinks are available free of charge. There is also a daily wine and canapé hour from 6 to 7pm. In the morning light continental options are also available if you don’t fancy going down stairs for a full breakfast option. Handy car parking is located underneath the hotel and guests get a preferred rate.

My friend and I had a wonderful lightish lunch, in the Bar of the Strand Hotel, on today the 25th. February 2020. Both of us opted for a Combo of soup and wrap ( included salad and bacon) at a very reasonable 10.95 each. Both the soup ( vegetable) and the wrap were deliciously excellent. We were served by Mizanur, who was friendly and most efficient. Thank you Mizanur and Strand Hotel for a very enjoyable and pleasant snack. By the way, if you spend 5 euro or more, you get free parking for 90 minutes. Now that's a brilliant combination.

I would say you could access it. It didn’t seem to be too low.
Tight enough and not advertised that you also have to pay a daily fee for it, only comes up when you go to check out, waver given to disabled drivers in Fairness.
I think so, but not 100% sure
