The George Limerick hotel garners praise for its spotless rooms and central location, a boon for guests eager to explore the city's attractions. Staff members earn accolades for their professionalism, yet some visitors express dissatisfaction with the breakfast service and room servicing timing. While the modern atmosphere and amenities like Nespresso machines are well-received, concerns over room size, noise, and occasional lack of amenities are noted. Despite the hotel's cleanliness and quality touches, many travelers question the value for money, pointing to steep prices and extra charges.

The location and the room were amazing, cozy and comfortable.

There was construction work taking place outside the hotel that began at 7am so our following morning was a very early rise... when we called to complain about the location of our room we were offered late check-out but honestly we wanted to check-out ASSP which we did so!

Lastly, as this booking was for an anniversary on valentines weekend when I enquired about any special complementary additions to the room I was told on a number of occasions to “Enquire upon check-in and you will be informed of a charge.”

Stayed for 1 night , the attached restaurant Da Vincenzo served a beautiful & very filling meal, would recommend. Bedroom was very hot during the night, with no thermostat to control the heat, roadworks outside the hotel prevented opening the windows due to noise. Due to Covid 19, restrictions apply at breakfast, however not all staff appeared to be aware of the hotel policies. Different waiter/ waitresses gave conflicting information.

Great location in city centre. Parking is a few doors down and costs €7.50 for overnight until 8.00am the next morning, I don't mind the cost but even though I did ask about parking when booking over the phone, I was not given clear information on it until I arrived. The room was very clean and comfortable, bathroom supplied with basic toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, decent-sized TV, comfy bed. However, there are no plugs/outlets by the bed at all, I found this very strange, I prefer to have my phone plugged in on the bedside locker rather than on a desk across the room. There is a building under construction across the road from the back of the hotel and that and the busy street made for quite a lot of noise - you basically have to choose between windows closed or noise, they started drilling at 7.00am. It was a bit cool so I didn't mind closing the windows and they were great for muting the noise but I would have hated no windows if the weather was a bit warmer. Breakfast was okay, not great, I was disappointed to find out that 'crisped potatoes' actually meant hash browns from the freezer section in the supermarket, poor effort. I could see the chef from where I was sitting and he wore his mask under his chin the entire time, put me off a bit to be honest. But overall, a nice hotel and I would stay there again.

After months of lockdown my friend and I booked a child free weekend in the George.

We arrived to find a large group of young people in the lobby no social distancing be observed.

All the staff did wear masks and sanitising stations were evident.

Our check in was efficient but certainly not friendly.

We were given a twin room on the sixth floor and this is where it all started to go wrong.

The room was tiny dated with a view of a wall.

The air conditioning they claim to have on their website is actually a fan and with humidity in the high 90s makes for a very uncomfortable stay.

I did ask for another larger room and was offered a triple room.

This too has dated furniture and the fan.

One of the lockers was damaged and the bedding was cheap with no pillow protectors.

There was a strong smell of smoke in the corridor near our room which I called reception about.

Room service breakfast is cereal fruit and a full
Irish they do not provide tea or coffee as you have instant in your room !!! The cooked breakfast was the usual I found the bacon rubbery and the sausage tasteless

Our room was not made up when we returned from our shopping trip I yet again called down to reception.

Instead of an apology I received a a very abrasive situation. After arguing with the staff member they conceded to make our room.

On our last day we had breakfast in the dining room / bar.

We were greeted and seated promptly. The had an excellent selection of hot and cold food. I chose there version of eggs benedict and it was very good. The freshly brewed coffee was also excellent. Just a pity this was not offered on the room service menu.

All in all more misses that hits. So I will not be returning certainly not a 4 star experience and I feel cheated. Next time I am booking into the Savoy.

I would have discussed all this with the manager however I was told he was not there.

I checked in to the hotel with my husband and 2 young children, in February upon arrival we were given a room on the 4th floor directly above the restaurant bar.
For a 4 star hotel the room was no better than an average holiday inn, however this was not an issue as we were only staying for one night.

HOWEVER on our return to the hotel after dinner at around 8pm, the hotel had changed from a hotel to a full blown night club, playing loud live music until 1.30am!!!.
Having called the front desk at 11pm asking when the music will be switched off, I was told that it will continue until 1.30pm. This was help by the fact we were given a room right above the bar where the band was playing, both my children and I were unable to sleep at all. The live music stopped at 1.30am at which point the music continued on the DJ deck. By this point at 2am both my young kids were screaming due the lack of sleep my husband went to the front desk to asked for the music to be switched off which they did at 2.30am.

Not once at check in knowing a family with 2 very young children were staying did anyone mentioned about live music at the hotel until 2am or did they bother to give us a room which was not directly above the bar where the live music would be playing.

At check out I spoke to the manager who seems to understand but said the hotel has live music every Friday, if this was told to us on check-in we would have gone elsewhere, or asked for a room away from the bar.
The manager assure me they would be in contact to try and resolve the matter, but its been almost a month and not one email from management.

In conclusion if you want to stay in a hotel and actually get a good night sleep before 3am AVOID this place, there are plenty of better options close by.

We were booked in for 2 nights in this hotel. We noticed that the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working even though there is a box on the wall for it. It was extremely hot in the room and as we were high up the windows only opened a little bit. We got no sleep and rang reception multiple times about fixing the issue. We were told that it would be fixed, then we were told that there was no air conditioning in any room, then told again that it would be fixed. It eventually got fixed but only for about 3 hours and then broke again. We were given a complimentary breakfast, which was stone cold upon arrival. No fresh towels or toilet roll etc were dropped into the room, we had to ask for them. The shower was awful as the water was either roasting hot or freezing cold making it very hard to shower. Was expecting a lot from this hotel but we all left disappointed and would not return or recommend

Excellent location near to bus/train stops, shops and restaurants.
Friendly staff.
Good wifi.
Rooms pleasantly decorated, well cleaned and with nice selection of tea/coffee, toiletries and guest extras.
Comfortable bed. Pillows too big so needed mashing down for comfort.
Price was very reasonable for city centre hotel of this quality.
I got a BDB deal that was specifically for a solo traveler- so rare and appreciated.

The map on keycard holder is a nice touch and appreciated.

Dinner value menu was a little different to the website but still a good selection.

Good choice for breakfast, order from one section of the menu (light, eggs, traditional), regular hot drink included, extra for fancy hot drinks.

Just to be aware, room was small so bed was close to the door hallway, noise from the hall could be heard in the room, including both sides of a telephone conversation. Bathroom fan was always on. But it wasn't too bothersome, and I always have earplugs when travelling so slept soundly.

The George claims to have free parking, both in their promotional materials on the website and in the emails they send out when you have booked.

In reality, they have limited free parking from 6:30pm-8:30am, outside of this you are charged as normal.

I stayed for one night and I called ahead to advise of my check-in time, but no-one informed me of these restrictions. No mention on checkout either, they pretended to validate my parking ticket when they knew it would be charged full price.

Left a sour taste considering the charge added up to an additional 7% over the advertised price of the room.

I stayed with my friend at The George last night. The location is great and very central. Parking is located right beside it and costs €7.50 for a night as the hotel validates it for you. Check in was seamless, and the reception staff were so friendly . Our room was nice and the beds were comfy. Loved the funky wallpaper and chair. We spent the rest of our time in Vincenzo’s. The staff were so professional and friendly and we really enjoyed it! The cauliflower wings were one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life ! The hotel was quiet and breakfast was lovely too. Well done to everyone at the George for being so friendly and welcoming !

We stayed here to celebrate a family member's 60th birthday. We had 3 single occupancy "cosy doubles" and a twin occupancy double. There was little or no difference between the room sizes. The hotel was very busy as there were college graduations that night. I felt they coped with this very well. The "cosy double" room was tight with just one person occupying it and wouldn't recommend it for a couple. The rooms were spotless and the bed comfortable. There was no getting away from the street noise below, despite being up on the 4th floor. We enjoyed cocktails from the bar but didn't eat there, although the food looked very good passing by. The staff were very professional and friendly.

There is no parking at the hotel. We parked in a multi-story around the corner and got the ticket stamped for half price parking which cost €15 for the weekend. Overall we had a pleasant experience and would probably go back if the rooms weren't so small.

You can get the bus to Shannon airport from the bus station. It’s the Galway bus I’ve been on it before.

Not at hotel but there are 3 multi storey car parks within a 5 min walk. One is affiliated with hotel and they validate parking for reduced overnight rate. Check hotel website for which one.
