We always stay at Bloc Hotel when travelling from Gatwick especially when it is an early morning flight. The rooms are small but if you are only there to sleep all that matters is a comfortable bed (which this is). The shower rooms are nice as are the toiletries. One thing that could be improved is the hot drinks room (if you have the standard room there aren't any hot drinks in the room) but this doesn't put us off.
Probably one of the smallest hotel rooms you’ll ever stay in, but the bed was very comfortable, and the room immaculately clean. An excellent location for those just sleeping over to catch a flight next day.
The elevators in the hotel exit directly airport concourse . All staff were polite and helpful. Walk in shower, Wifi and connected flat screen TV at bottom of the very comfortable bed. Suites are from the luxury runway suite to budget traveler and mid range in between. I stayed in Aspire room with corner windows overlooking airport, sound proofed, so you can see planes landing without any noise. Can recommend. Have booked again next month.
We arrived at the Gatwick North Terminal at midnight after a long flight from Athens and had a flight to the States the next morning from the South Terminal. So, we knew our stay would be short and convenience was at the top of our requirements. We reserved a Vista Plus room that I thought would be larger than most and had a window. Of course, you need to be aware that these are tiny rooms...with 4 pieces of luggage, it was a tight fit! The bathroom is equally small and represents why I would likely NOT book here again if I could avoid it. First of all, the bathroom isn't terribly private, with a frosted glass door and glass panel facing into the sleeping area. We've been married over 50 years, but there are some things we just don't need to see! The worst of it, though, is that the bathroom is also the shower room. Yes, the toilet and sink share the same space where one showers. So, once you shower, you need to dry the toilet, sink and floor off in order to have a functioning bathroom again...you know, to shave or put on make-up, go to the toilet, etc. It reminded me of when I had a sailboat! Plus, there is a hand-held shower wand, which I used. I only discovered there was also a rain shower on the ceiling when I tried to turn the shower off and instead it turned on the overhead shower. What a surprise! I turned it off quickly, but it was finicky and continued to drip whilst I was trying to towel off. On the positive side, it is very easy to get there from the NorthTerminal using the shuttle train and it is right next to the security entrance for South Terminal gates. Plus, the hotel gives you a free pass to the expedited security line. Finally, the bed was indeed comfy. The hotel serves its purpose...just make sure it will serve yours!…
Stayed in an aspire family room 1 night with husband & teenager. Lovely good size room, clean & comfy. Nice white fresh bedding and towel bales provided. Complimentary bottles of water. Very easy use of controls for room access and room controls from your phone. Enjoyed the super view from the room. Any airport/plane enthusiasts dream. Loved seeing take offs/landings. Impressed how quiet it was and got a very comfortable sleep. Dinky little shower/toilet room. Beautifully clean. I would definitely recommend and will be returning customer . .. my only negative was the coffee/tea/hot chocolate was rather poor. Otherwise super and ideal stay so convenient inside terminal building. Also given complimentary premium security voucher. Well done
Love the concept. Booked a VIP room with runway view and it wasn’t cheap but thought I’d treat us. All amazing but for one thing, the lighting around the windows can’t be switched off. Now, I’m a pretty light sleeper and I need it dark, the blackout blinds work a treat and I can’t fault anything else about this hotel but this is pretty fundamental. I spoke to reception who suggested turning the main light switch on and off which I tried but no joy and the lights remained on. When I explained I’d tried that then they couldn’t really suggest anything else and said “sorry, take care”. As I may here at 12.30 at night typing this I’m wondering whether it was worth the £200 for a sleepless night. Sorry Bloc, love the idea but you could do better!
Outstanding customer care! This was my 2nd booking at the Bloc Hotel in Gatwick South terminal. I have to say it’s the only time I have travelled to airport check-in totally stress free. But I have to say I have never experienced such a caring and thoughtful customer service. I had unfortunate unforeseen circumstances with my 2nd booking and needed to contact them. They replied to my email immediately and were AMAZING! Such a state of the art set up and easy check in and out makes it a must! Highly recommend this hotel. Thank you Bloc you did well and I wanted others to know.
Second time we’ve stayed here before flying. Yes it’s not the biggest room but it’s clean, modern and very comfortable! Love the free hot drinks machine too! Great coffee! Not to mention how easy it is to fly on an early morning wake up!
Stayed in a bunk-bed room with my older daughter. Fine as long as you realise you are just buying somewhere to sleep. Floor space was very limited and hard to negotiate around our suitcases. Biggest drawback is that there is no decent mirror in the bathroom, only a smoked-effect mirror. Looks fancy but impossible to actually apply any make-up. Room is supposed to be soundproof but I could hear a lot of noise from upstairs from dragging suitcases and showers. Perfect location, will stay again but would be nice if the mirror issue could be addressed.
Like most, we stayed for one night awaiting our flight the next morning. It was a good choice for us but it is aimed at a very specific market. It’s ‘in the south terminal’ so you can just walk out and straight through to your flight. It’s also very handy for the train station in case you are arriving by train or fancy an hour or two in Horsham or Brighton while you wait. The rooms are basic but clean. There’s not much space for luggage and your bed may well be against the wall. Showers are taken in a wet room - which is ok as long as you don’t need to pop to the loo wearing your socks while the floor is still wet. It’s a good practical choice but I doubt you’ll want to spend any longer than you have to.
