Mixed bag this place, but just scrapes 4 stars for us. Good = smart reception and lobby, free car parking, breakfast very good, beds very comfortable, free Wifi and prices good (we paid only £50 for a Friday night). Less good - decor in halls and rooms (especially bathrooms) is a bit tired, and location is a 15 minute walk...

I have stayed at the Falstaff hotel on numerous occasions and would like to say that I really enjoy this hotel: rooms are clean, spacious and have some amazing features (rooms have been redecorated during the Christmas break) the reception area is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful (as well as the Manager) and also the food is...

Stayed at the falstaff Saturday 23rd for a night away just me and the hubby, first night away on our own since we got married abroad, with no kids.... Put on special requests that it was our honey moon to be surprised with the bridal suit when we arrived, room was lovely and we had a wonderful meal in The...

Arrived late after driving down after work. Went straight to the bar to unwind where the bar staff were lovely and prices reasonable for a hotel. Rooms nothing to write home about. Biggest complaint is that I was extremely hungry and fully understood the bar weren't serving at this time. I therefore went to my room and read the info...

I booked online through trivago, when I arrived at 7.30 the blunt receptionist told me that their internet was down and could not find my booking. Then the manager arrived and confirmed that they could not find my booking and there were no rooms available. He, after I had been waiting 20 minutes started to inspect some rooms each time...

I organised 2 events here over Christmas, the first was a Masquerade Dinner and Disco for 110 people, Despite being at the absolute maximum capacity for the dining room the staff maintained a friendly service throughout. Event catering always receives mixed reviews but each course offered 3 options and the overall feedback was very good. The disco was thoroughly enjoyed...

This was by far the best Christmas dinner day out, we as a family have experienced, friendly and quick staff was only bettered by the quality of the food, my only tiny criticism is not enough sprouts, but probably in a minority there so I got over it, a massive well done to all involved, worth every penny thanks.

For wheelchair users the ramp to reception is a death trap. No handrails, no edge barrier to stop you falling off a 1 ft drop, slippery and covered in moss, not well lit at night so take care. My room behind reception looked fine at first but the horrible brown stains in the sink, the mold in the shower and...

We had ours works Christmas do here. I walked in to be greeted by workmen painting and laying carpet, this was at 7.30pm. We headed to the bar, where one person was on duty and was very slow. 25 minutes later we had our drinks but no ice or lemon! Just gin and tonic. The food wasn't brilliant I had...

Arrived Friday 11th December, just before 6pm, for Maskarade party night that evening. Struggled to find a parking space, despite not many being checked in at that point. Reception was a shambles as they were stripping wallpaper at that time (who refurbishes a hotel in December when running party nights?) Was given key (yes, they still use keys rather than...
