Another wonderful stay from the welcoming mulled wine and crumpets through the superbly appointed bedroom to the BEST BREAKFAST EVER ! James is so professional and attentive. THE BEST REASON TO GO SOUTH FROM SCOTLAND in the car.

A beautiful place with a most welcoming host - James. Mulled wine & crumpets on arrival - what a delight. Fabulous room all tastefully finished throughout. Very comfy bed & excellent breakfast in the morning. Missed James when we checked out but we found out our dog would be welcome to stay. So we will be back in the New...

A fabulous place for our fleeting visit to Lancaster; beautiful interior design with carefully chosen pieces of furniture and artworks throughout, huge, comfortable bed with gorgeous bed linen, excellent breakfast! Superb!

we had a rotten trip up the M^ in the dark and wet, but James swept all that away with his carrot and pineapple cake and a glass of wine. the rooms here are amazing, cosy, comfy, well equipped and we slept like logs. breakfast was amazing, way too much choice!!!! :-) more wine after a day of intensive pottering...

From the welcome by James and the offer of a drink and, maybe, some cake, the scene is set for another comfortable stay. I rarely return to a hotel or B and B but here is one of those exceptional places which set the standards by which others are judged.

I could not praise the Ashton too highly. James is the consummate host, there when you need him, friendly, informative and helpful. We arrived on a wet Tuesday afternoon, to be met with a welcome glass of red and a large slice of apple and almond (?) cake. We went to our room, which was spacious, clean and impeccably decorated...

Fabulous boutique hotel - a real gem of a find! James couldnt have been more welcoming if he'd tried. On arrival we had tea and cake and a cuddle with Elvis the cat. Very relaxing. The rooms are beautifully decorated (and so is the entire house) with lots of room and an enormous bed. The shower was a waterfall shower...

We had a fabulous stay last week at The Ashton. The only dissapointment was we were only in Lancaster for one night. It is warm, friendly, beautifully appointed with so many lovely and thoughtful touches (including the aforementioned cake on arrival, and Ren toiletries). James has worked very hard to make this a special place, and we are sure to...

Excellent service and food. We will go again when we visit Lancaster. We were originally staying there and dropping off our daughter at Uni but her house wasn't ready and James helped us out with an extra bed straight away. The breakfasts were excellent - I recommend you don't book an early lunch afterwards!

We stayed at The Ashton for just one night after a friend's wedding and I wish it had been longer. We were made welcome the moment we stepped through the door, with cake and coffee and a chance to make a fuss of the resident cat, Elvis. (Don't worry if you don't care for cats, they won't let him bother...
