Stayed here for one night recently but would not return. It is in a central location which is why we chose it. The room was very cramped and the furniture and decor very shabby. The lighting was terrible. Although supposed to be a double room we only had one bedside table and lamp (it seems only one can read in...

I stayed here a couple of times last year and for the money you can't complain, it is the first time I have stayed here this year and I notice some works being carried out. Beware that the car park is now £5.00 for the night, I was not expecting this as I had never paid before, they have a...

Just home from 2 nights in this hotel. When we went to our room it was freezing but the beds looks clean. Went into the toilet. There was a poo in the toilet! The towel for the floor had obviously been used and there was an open bottle of shower gel on the bath. It looked like the room had...

We stayed for a romantic Valentines weekend break. Great location and ideal for visiting Lancaster and surrounding area. We had a nice room, the staff were really friendly and helpful and it was very good value for money. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice and I would definitely book again.

Booked on 13th, 14th of February for a long weekend break. As some others have mentioned you do indeed get what you pay for. It cost us around 60 quid per night, which for bang smack in the center i thought was cheap. I wasnt expecting much and much is not what we got....but !! I would definitely recommend it...

The price for a single room in this hotel was really unbeatable, much cheaper than the nearby Travelodge was for the same night. The location is also pretty great, it is right by the middle of town and the train station. The rooms are tired and have seen better days. Floorboards creak, the paint is peeling from the windows, the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We always offer the best prices to our guests direct through hotel reception so be sure to call us first. Fantastic all round venue in a central location, ideal for weddings and functions, everything under one roof. In the heart of the historic city of Lancaster, with views of its famous castle, stands the Royal Kings Arms Hotel. Originally built in 1625 and later rebuilt in 1879, the hotel was immortalized by Charles Dickens in his tale of "The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices". This Grade II listed hotel has 55 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, including the luxury Castle Suite, with its four poster bed and views of the castle, the entrance to which is just 50 yards away. With origins dating back almost 1,000 years Lancaster Castle, a Grade 1 listed building, occupies a city-centre hilltop location on the site of three successive Roman forts and has been described by English Heritage as "not only the North-West's most important historic and archaeological monument but also of international importance". Other historic buildings in Lancaster include the Judge's Lodgings and the Doll Museum. The sea plays a big part in Lancaster's history and the Maritime Museum is a fascinating place to visit. Beyond the city, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach, while the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are a short drive away. Breakfast is available when checking in at reception, we do have car parking facilities at £5 per car per stay at the rear of the hotel. ... more   less

“Toilet flusher in our room wasn't working properly and took several attempts , this wasn't very good as I was sharing . Could do with a bed side lamp as you either have to have the main light on or get out of bed to switch the lamp on the dressing table either on or off ”
