I booked a room at this hotel, We confirmed on the telephone and I was told to arrive after 4pm so that there would be someone to receive me. After a 7 hour journey, I arrived at 6pm. I stood on the doorstep, freezing cold and tired, ringing the bell for 15 minutes before I gave up and went elsewhere....

This is a lovely unspoilt Edwardian House the decor and photos and pictures make it a very homely place. My only negative comment would be about the late check in times 4pm is later than i would normally expect given you are expected to be out by 10am . Breakfast at £7.50 can be pre-booked the night before and was...

Excellent, comfy rooms really loved the stay. Most importantly The Hotel Keeper Siobhan was absolutely amazing, she made us feel so welcome and incredibly helpful. She was a star and showed so much dedication to fulfil our needs whilst our stay. Day or night Siobhan always offered great customer service and was always so understanding. Absolutely brilliant!

I've stayed at the Balmoral a few times now and it has been very pleasant every time. Siobhan always makes me feel most welcome and is very flexible when I need to change my booking. I haven't tried breakfast yet as I'm always out too early but there is plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate available. I think it is very good...

Good location for me, yes the road is busy during peak times but the rooms are double glazed. Nice friendly lady owner. Rooms converted from what would have been huge bedrooms giving a choice of rooms to suit short or longer stays. lovely little personal touches such as homemade preserves for breakfast which you wouldn't get with the chains. limited...

Hotel on a busy road. Room like a sauna but too noisy to have window open at night. Bizarrely heating seemed to be on in public areas like landing etc. Owners had left a young Australian man in charge, very pleasant, but not much clue about breakfast. Provided fresh fruit but unwashed and not prepared and yoghurt looked curdled. No...
