We stayed on a Thirsday evening. Check in was seamless, both ladies at reception were polite and were immaculate, beautiful hair and nails! All decor modern, really fast lift. Our bedroom was on the corner, it was the biggest room I’ve stayed in (705) and had a full length window with view of busy street below & Manchester city centre. I could have sat & watched all day. You can open the window slightly too. The lady at breakfast told us the hotel only opened in January so everything is shiny & new. Bathroom has everything you need including good quality shower and hand soap and towels which were soft & fluffy. The shower was a little bit slower than I was expecting but was still acceptable.
We were given a choice of tables at breakfast, some were quite close to others and it was busy when we went at 9am. The food was very good though, lots of choice and quality full English. The only thing that I felt disappointed with was when I overheard a waiter telling a customer off for putting some gluten free bread in the ordinary toaster, he was quite rude and did not listen when the guest explained that he did not have an allergy. But this was my only gripe, and it wouldn’t stop me from visiting or recommending this hotel. We had a lovely overnight stay and felt at £96 for two including breakfast was good value for money.

Really enjoy staying at the Clayton! Lovely modern feel with friendly staff who create a welcoming atmosphere. We have stayed over ten times in recent months visiting elderly family members in the area and it's good to experience a reliable hotel proposition. Location is great, China Town is literally across the road and short walks to great pubs and restaurants. We have eaten in the hotel restaurant and it's good. The rooms are spacious, we normally stay in the deluxe rooms, which mostly have great walk in rain showers and the beds are very comfortable, always sleep well at The Clayton. There have been a few housekeeping issues but Karen sorts everything out straight away and always remembers us and we get a warm welcome each time from her. Many of the staff remember you and even what your favorite tipple is. Karen is clearly passionate and cares about the service her team delivers and encourages feedback if anything is not right and is proactive in resolving issues. We shall continue to return when we are up in Manchester, you can sign up on the website to 'Click on Clayton' and receive a 10% discount on each booking.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our son and his girlfriend. Check in was so quick and easy and the reception staff were so friendly and helpful, we arrived a little early and expected to leave our bags in the holding area but our room was ready so we were able to check in early which was an absolute bonus, our son arrived at 3pm check in time so it was quite busy as was to be expected but the staff were very quick and efficient and they were soon checked in with the minimum of fuss.
We had an evening meal and breakfast in the hotel and the food was delicious and again bar staff and waiting staff were very friendly and chatty.

The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with everything you need, the lifts were super fast and the location felt out of the hustle and bustle but was actually really central which was perfect for us.

Karen the Guest Relations Manager was so helpful and attentive, making sure everyone had everything they needed and ensuring guests had a pleasant stay.

All in all a clean modern comfortable hotel in a good location with a great team of staff!

I wouldn’t stay again due to the sheer amount of time I spent queuing at this hotel. I spent fifteen minutes in the queue to check in on arrival, I had to queue every time I used the lifts (of which there are only three for the whole hotel), and then a TWENTY minute queue for breakfast in the morning which made me late. I spent less time eating than I did queuing!

Also if you can, take the stairs down in the morning. Due to the lack of lifts, on my way down the lift would stop at EVERY floor (even though the lift was full) only for those waiting to say “oh I’ll get the next one”. I cannot imagine how long they were waiting. But it took forever to get to breakfast as we stopped at every floor.

Management need to stop asking people how their stay is going when seating guests for breakfast. The twenty minute queue for breakfast took so long as every guest took the time (as they were specifically asked) to tell the greeter their problems, and then the greeter would then try and resolve it there and then. No offer of poached eggs at breakfast.

Hotel room was nice enough, but there is an issue with sound proofing. For the first time ever I actually chain locked my hotel room door because every time a neighbouring guest opened their hotel room door it sounded like they were trying to break into mine. I could also hear word for word conversations in the hallway.

Given the star rating, I also expected more than hand soap to be available in the shower - how about shower gel, shampoo and conditioner?

The bed was comfy, room clean and the location is good but there are so many other hotels in Manchester that I’d try other hotels rather than ever returning to the Clayton.

It’s a new hotel so very clean and modern. All of the staff were very friendly, some were very competent and on top of their game, others not so much.

A few things reduced my score to 3, mainly around the breakfasts and slow food service.

It’s £15 each for breakfast, so for a 2 night stay it was £60 on top of the room charge for breakfast.

The quality of the breakfast was very good, however, it’s far too disorganised. Both mornings the hot Buffett had ran out of a few items. The staff were coming from the kitchen to fill up stuff but there were significant waits between things being empty and refilled. Things need to be refilled before they run out. This morning there were no scrambled eggs, tomatoes or beans at the same time. It was at least 5 minutes before the beans appeared by which point I gave up. It was the same yesterday morning.

The layout of the breakfast Buffett doesn’t make sense. Continental on one side and hot buffet on the other, great, but the croissants and pastries are on the hot side next to the toast maker, and the ketchup/sauces for the hot breakfast are on the continental side, so everyone was getting in each other’s way trying to reach what they wanted.

Tea and coffee is from staff who are supposed to come to the table. Good luck trying to flag one down. Both mornings we were half way through eating before we managed to wave someone down and ask for a drink. Overall the breakfast experience just isn’t good enough for the price.

The temperature in the room is hot. There’s a control in the room but the lowest it would show was 19 degrees and it was definitely a lot hotter than that. You can’t open windows and the fan/aircon control not working meant the room was stuffy and uncomfortable.

We were on the 6th floor and there was the bass from music from a nearby club until after midnight. Noise is to be expected in a city centre, but if you want a quiet room you’d need to be much higher in the building, or in another hotel!

The food service from the bar is very very slow, however the cheeseburger is very good.

There is an NCP very close to the hotel and the hotel has a good discount. We arrived Friday evening and left Sunday lunch, should have been about £55, with the hotel discount it reduced to £34.

Overall it was ok, but for the price it’s not much better than budget hotels, not better enough to be worth spending the extra.

This hotel is far from 4 star. The rooms are dark, as they only have a small window due to the design of building, and it doesn’t open. The room is cramped. The tea and coffee facilities offer instant coffee and long life milk. The bathroom offers a combined body and shampoo that’s attached to the wall.
We stayed 4 nights and our room wasn’t serviced on the first day even though we were out all day. They offered to service when we complained but as we were getting ready for the evening it wasn’t suitable. The second day again same issue - after a full day out room wasn’t serviced so we had to go to the lounge for 30 minutes so they could service.
We paid for breakfast and again wouldn’t recommend. We came down for breakfast at 9.30 and the buffet was out of white bread, sauces and again offered instant coffee. They will offer alternative coffees if you ask but you aren’t informed when ordering.
The staff are polite and friendly but the quality of the hotel and its facilities aren’t four star. Disappointing.

We stayed here over the weekend and was very impressed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, our room was perfect and clean with added touches of chrome cast on the tv which was easy to set up. The food was delicious we tried a few different things on the menu and couldn’t fault any of them. Overall we were really happy with our stay.

So where do I start, come back from shopping with a do not disturb sign on the door to then see a head floating round my door which scared the life out of me as I was naked only wearing my SpongeBob pyjama top. Later on while watching some female athletics and getting a bit hot and bothered I hear another tap at the door I flicked the eye hole cover to see two men I open the door and they quickly scarpered when they once again saw the do not disturb. I might as well just leave my door wide open here cause it doesn’t matter if I say do not disturb by the looks of things or even lock my door. Bed was hard not pushed against the wall had to do it myself almost pulled my hamstring. Wall had black marks all up it like resident evil 7. Shower had two settings, normal and power jet wash, which when turned the wrong way could blow you from floor 12 to reception all the way back again. All in all I would not recommend staying here there’s better hotels in Manchester for less with more.

Arrived on Mothers day with a friend, we booked a 2 night stay and got a great deal from groupon, for bed and breakfast, welcome drink and two course evening dinner, we arrived at 2 which was check in time and there was quite a long que but it quickly went down and check in was smooth, we requested a higher floor to get a better view, floor 16, room 1614, the room was lovely, all fresh, clean, contemporary style, a double and single bed was fantastic, view was amazing at night time, plenty of plug sockets and usb ports, including next to the bed,we had coffee and tea making facilities, iron and ironing board, plenty of towels, beds was so comfy we didn't want to get up. Tv was not smart tv, only let down to be fair

Location was brilliant, right at picadilly, nof far from the train station next to national express coach station, close to china town, the gay village

We was given a room with adjoining door to the next room and we had our neighbours complaining we was too loud, although we was only talking, they had work, i get that, but we didn't, have work and wanted to have a good catch up so at breakfast i mentioned this incident to the hotel duty manager Karen who kindly looked into this matter and offered to move rooms and upgrade, we moved accross the landing, amazing view again, lovely room and we could enjoy the rest of our stay without any complaints, Karen went above and beyond to sort out the change of room, she also greeted us each morning with a welcome smile and made sure we had a great breakfast, the breakfast choice was great, plenty of freshly made food, plenty of tea and coffee, fruit juices, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, as well as baked pastries, and full english.

We enjoyed our welcome drinks at the bar, the bar staff and very friendly and gave us glasses of ice to take up to our room on request, we didn't realise on each floor there was an ice machine, very handy.

Evening meal was great, a good choice, lovely the crab bisque and ceaser salad especially, our servers Vas and the blonde girl from belfast was extremely helpful, very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we needed,

Its a great hotel with friendly staff that went the extra mile to make us feel special and very well looked afterand cannot wait to return for another lovely break.

What an impressive hotel with outstanding Customer Service and great location. I booked to stay with my son and my friend & her son so the double bed and single bed set up in each of our rooms was ideal. The hotel is obviously new so it was sparkling but with a few minor snaggings in the rooms - we let the manager know and she was so keen hear our feedback and said she’d get them looked at straight away - the perfect response. They genuinely care about the property & the guests and this was felt from the moment we walked in & Daniella checked us in, through to the lovely friendly staff in the bar area and in the breakfast dining room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
