Came here for my friends birthday and had an absolutely awesome weekend in Manchester! The location is brilliant right in the northern quarter by loads of bars, cafes and restaurants. However at £27 a night for a bed in an 8 bed dorm I'd hardly call it budget accommodation! We were on the fourth floor which involved climbing up 8...

Average hostel, the dorms were big and clean. The bathrooms are good. The wifi doesn't work!! There's zero atmosphere, since it's meant to be a party hostel everyone stays in there groups. Not good for solo travelers. Breakfast was good. Location was great.

lunatic asylum posing as a hostel.staff apparently can let in anybody at any time at short notice. So at 4.30am a women entered a mixed dorm, took her clothes of and jumped into a top bunk bed.Smell of sweaty clothes and sweaty socks. The hostel sits on top of a nite club so the noise was constant even on the 4th floor....

Excellent location between the main train station and the centre of Manchester. Extremely friendly and helpful staff There is an activity every night for the guests. Although the toilets were cleaned, there are too few of them resulting in them being quite dirty by the evening.

On my nine week trip through Britain I now stayed in many hostels and guest houses. As this hostel offered prices within my budget, I chose to stay two nights at Hatter's. Unfortunately I have to say that all hostel I have been staying at since I began my trip had a better quality. The rooms and bathroom facilities are...

This is not the best hostel I have ever stayed, but not the worst. Yes it is very noisy ( the doors to the rooms) and be prepared for a cold shower - in the Mens anyway. Nothing to complain about the common area or kichen. Staff are OK although a couple of the female receptionists are a bit 'slow'...

Good location, not so good cleanliness and very bad management of the entrance. I "have lost" a bag and in the middle of the night we were waken up by the staff because a guy founded a drunk man sleeping in his bad. Very bad experience.

This large hostel in central Manchester has a big old-fashioned cast iron lift shift running through the building from floor to roof. It's a very interesting piece of architecture and looks as if it's been there since Queen Victoria was on the throne - as does the hostel's bed linen, decor and toilets. Basically, this place needs a throrough refurb...

- Bedroom: quite okay - Internet connection: poor, slow - Bathroom: really let me down, nothing to hang the cloth inside the tube - The lift can only be used by the staff and I stayed in the 5th floor

Of all the hostels and hotels I have stayed in, this is the first time I have ever been faced with unmade beds with unwashed bedlinen... The standard at Hatters is generally considerably lower than other hostels in my experience. Apart from a loud and broken soundsystem, really poor breakfast (cheap nasty instant coffee, really??), showers (on a different floor)...
