Prices are cheap, the staff are very friendly and the check in and check out process was quick and easy.
The downside is no parking, you have to use one of the public ones. I used one on Ducie street which is a 10 min walk and costs £6 for 24 hours. Also lack of toiletries and other things like a hair dryer.
Overall good cheap budget hotel, basic but nice breakfast and convenient location.
All the staff were all super friendly. and helpful.
There are no drink making facilities in the room so i popped down to reception to get hot water for my tea... didn't realise until day 3 a kettle could be hired for £10 refundable deposit.
It was fine staying alone or with a partner but the location of the shower (being in the bedroom rather than a bathroom) is a bit weird.
I have checked out the rates for a later date for an event at the etiad, the rates are massively inflated, over £200/ night. I wouldn't pay that to stay here however i thought £30ish/ night was ok.
All In all would definitely recommend and visit again, just not at inflated prices.
The team leader offered a second room …. It seemed better and we were about to accept the change. Going to use the toilet facilities we found all surfaces had not been cleaned and the previous customers had left their mark on all areas including walls and top of the toilet ( smeared faeces) Massive hygiene breach. Went down to the team leader with my utter disappointment.
The customer service the team leader offered was fantastic. He recognised the shameful situation and did everything in his power to help 3 ladies out. He needs to be praised for how he acted as I’m sure his job is very stressful and he will deal with complaints on a regular basis/daily(hourly)
Again this hotel offers what it advertises and nothing more. So I would recommend if you do want more then pay more .
We were moved to ibis Portland street - perfect and recommended
I’ve rated 3 for location, price and great customer service .
Hotel rooms maintenance and cleaning need to be looked at .
No kettle in room (which I knew already) but you can buy one from Wilko for £6.
Brought all my own coffee, tea, powered milk, snacks etc but if not then lots of shops around....
10 min from Piccadilly station and Morrisons local, plenty more supermarkets around.
It is not exactly in the centre but not exactly far out either, the area is currenlty kind of semi redeveloped but ok for walking around in during early morning / day / evening, not sure about late at night.
Room was basic, is ensuite but please bear in mind it is a pod not really a room in the traditional sense. Shower in cubicle is fine, plenty of hot water and high pressure. Toilet in small room next to front door. Room itself (double) was a decent size, didn't feel cramped, nice-ish views out.
There is a small area to hang clothes and a shelf but if you have a lot of stuff might be struggling.
I was out a lot and this room was fine just to have a base to dump my stuff / sleep in. If you are spending more time in your room it might be a little basic for your taste.
You may get problems with noise, it depends if you are lucky or not, seems to depend on who your fellow guests are at the time. Walls seem to be not especially thick so if you have other guests in neighbouring rooms up late at night you will probably hear them. No problem, if you have earplugs.
For the cheap price I got at it is great value, I wouldn't pay say £70 per night for this. It is a very basic no frills hotel where the price and reasonably modern and clean interior is the main selling point.
The shower is effectively in the bedroom and there is a separate toilet room, but it's an adequately sized shower cubicle and a nice powerful shower.
There are no kettles in the room but you can have unlimited hot drinks and pastries from reception which I prefer as you don't run out of milk! The croissants were lovely.
The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean and quite a nice design. The heating/air con was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was swift. Check out is 12:00 which was most welcome to have an extra hour to lay in. The toilet paper was decent, as was the shower gel. I didn't use the wifi much but was able to get on and use it, seemed fine. The bed wasn't the best I've ever slept on but was comfortable enough.
No complaints here. I'll be back.
On entering the Ibis Budget, it was disappointing that there was no bar or comfy seating but the person handling check in was pleasant and efficient.
The rooms are tiny boxes and poorly furnished. Everything is done on the cheap. Really cheap. The shower and toilet are tiny and more or less just cupboards with some plumbing. You should only share a room if you know the other person VERY well.
The toilet cupboard is minuscule - it’s virtually impossible to sit on the bog without opening the door, sitting down and then closing the door. These rooms are unsuitable for anyone who is more than petite in stature. The beds are 2’6” singles and the mattresses are thin and covered in wee-proof plastic.
Classy.
I could feel every slat when I attempted to go to sleep. Aircon was noisy but it did work. There is one hook to hang coats and three hangers for other clothes.
There is no carpet and the flooring is like something you might find in a public toilet. Seriously, I’ve seen hospital wards that are more inviting. Don’t forget that this is all for more money than you’d pay in a vastly superior Premier-inn.
The following was my experience so far:
Booked in via a training course provider for work, come to check in to find out their systems have been down and they cannot check in guests via the computer and they can't program keycards to open your room, so a member of staff has to escort you to let you in your room. This is fine until someone bursts into your room late at night while you are asleep telling the security guard that its their room (when its not) so I would recommend buying one of those travel door locks and engaging the latch in the door for safety and security purposes.
When checking in I was given 3 keycards label for 3 different rooms for some reason (Im a solo traveller) and when the member of staff escorted me up two of the three rooms were already occupied, so i just took the third unoccupied room.
I know its unusual circumstances but Im at the start of a two week stay and I hope it gets better
The hotel is a little jaded in terms of décor and maintenance, housekeeping also was poor in my experience.
Check-in was friendly and efficient yet the reception area was not welcoming and the bar/restaurant was not somewhere I would feel comfortable eating or drinking.
The corridors to the rooms we riddled with stained carpets and the walls could do with a coat of paint.
The room was okay, the issue I had was the uncomfortable, thin memory foam mattress, the duvet and sheets were too small and the wrong size for the bed, all did not aid a good night's sleep.
The television was small and outdated, the plastic cube chair was awful and the Wi-Fi presented with connection and strength issues throughout the stay.
The room does not have a kettle, you had to get complimentary coffee etc. from reception
The in-room shower was very good yet the small towels were more sandpaper than fluffy.
Was not offered breakfast so I believe that they are not providing that service.
The location on the edge of the city centre was okay and convenient for the main railway station, Piccadilly. You can also connect with the rest of the city via the nearby tram stop.
Travelodge do budget hotels in a far superior way than this Ibis Budget; I will not be returning.
We got a twin room, the room was very small and the beds were centimetres apart. There wasn’t very many places to charge your phone as there was a total of two sockets one located under the bed and one at the other side of the room. The bed was held up with two wooden sticks, as you laid on the bed you could feel wood making the bed hard and not at all comfortable. We also found pubes, on bed sheets and in the toilet area. My bed sheets also had a holes, making me think that the sheets aren’t changed.
The shower was ok, i guess. The pressure was fine along with the temperature, however it had a see through door. This would be alright if you were a couple but for anyone else i wouldn’t recommend sharing a room even if it’s to save money. The sink was in the room itself which wasn’t as expected. As for the toilet situation, yes it’s an on suit however, sitting on the toilet your knees would touch the door, well mine did and i’m 5’3. So any taller you’d need to leave the door open.
We attempted to come back into the hotel after the concert, which needed the room key to open it. After 10 or more attempts we were successful, however the security had to come over and open the door to tell us that the key card gadget was in-fact dodgy, and sometimes doesn’t work.
We needed the room key in order to call the lift and for it to operate, there were no social distancing measures in place, so the lift was cramped. With food and mess all on the floor of the lift.
The reception area had a mini shop of food and drinks (water, fizzy drink, alcohol) all day long which is good but was extremely expensive.
