We rode the train in mid September from Paris to Chartres, and with just a couple bags each, trudged through the town toward the cathedral since we knew the hotel was nearby. It was a warm hike, but we navigated our way to the cathedral, then wandered some side streets trying to find the former convent/religious building using the map...

We stayed here a while ago, and are looking forward to a return visit this spring/summer. The staff was friendly; the rooms very clean the breakfast good; the location fantastic, and the overall historical feel of the St. Yves and area wonderful.

Hotellerie is situated in a pedestrian area right next to cathedral. Followed GPS and trip advisor's suggestions but had to get out of our car and ask two different people how to get there. Glad we got there in daylight! Once we got in we were satisfied with our room--small but very reasonably priced and close to everything we wanted...

We stayed one Saturday night in August 2016, with an extremely loud party taking place in the building on the ground floor, which meant we weren't able to sleep until the party finished, at 3.30am. Worst of all, there was no reception or management staff present during the night in the building (surely unsafe in itself?) to supervise or manage...

This is a top place to stay in this lovely town. Friendly, helpful staff, clean and tidy rooms with spotless bathrooms. Our room had a fantastic view over the old town, but I guess some rooms must look direct onto the cathedral. It may be worth asking. The buffet breakfast was good of the usual kind. However, unless you are...

I love this hotel, it is close to everything . The reception was most welcoming after 28 hours of travelling! My single ensuite room was simple with a flat screen TV and phone, chair, tables and the most comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast in the pillared crypt was excellent. I am sure the views over the valley would be good...

We had difficulty finding it due to road construction, but very clean, and friendly staff. We stopped locals on the street for help and they were great. Would recommend highly if you are visiting the cathedral. The hot water was really hot, shower a pleasure

Simple accommodation but in a great location. It is mostly used by people on pilgrimages & so most rooms just have single beds. The rooms are small but perfectly functional with comfortable beds. We'd go back again if staying in Chatres.

An interesting journey navigating the narrow streets of the old town with our 4x4 car, finally realising we had to use an intercom to gain access to a private road, brought us with relief to the hotel car park. The location couldn't have been more central to the cathedral with the sound of a choir floating ethereally on the air....

The Hotellerie Saint-Yves which Carol selected was a terrific choice—just 75 meters from the huge Cathedral Notre-Dame, inside the ancient city which is basically closed to cars except delivery vehicles and travelers staying there. Streets to this historic area are blocked by bollards, which we had seen previously in Europe—posts in the street that will lower to allow the vehicle...
