A long tradition of excellence in the art of living awaits you in this grand 19th-century building. An emblem of Parisian life, Le Scribe was originally the home of the very aristocratic Jockey Club. It became a hotel of legend, a stage of modernity on which the cinema was born, a favourite place of artists and celebrities. The Scribe keeps that legacy alive today. In its elegant rooms and suites, its public and reception areas, new generations of personalities are even now adding chapters to the hotel's history.

First time in the Sofitel Scribe since it has been renovated and renamed. This hotel has the big advantage of an excellent location. Some plusses like the very good welcome at the reception and the more modern look , particularly the nicely decorated bedroom and beautiful TV, but unfortunately many downsides - rooms are not sufficiently protected from neighbour noise. Mine had only a door with the adjacent room and I could hear all the conversation coming from there . - rooms overlooking the courtyard are under constant rumbling from machinery. - the bathroom has been renovated to a cost . No partitioning between the shower and the rest of the bathroom with water going everywhere after each shower. Probably this is to not to have to clean the window every day. A towel supporting bar strutting out of the wall next to the toilet bowl forbid any proper seating as we have to seat across. - Bedroom badly lightened with only two lamps. Too much an impression of cost cutting for a luxury hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
Being picky and demanding in everything about my upcoming holidays, I made no exception when I was considering to stay in this hotel. I was talking to the reservations office about my room, to the concierge about the plan of my stay in Paris, to the front desk about a billion tiny things. When I stay at the hotel for the first time, I want everything to be checked and confirmed. And everyone at this hotel was friendly and ready to help me with my requests, and they have done everything to make me feel as a precious guest. From the check-in to the check-out, everything was perfectly prepared according to my requests. The staff was amazing. And most important - their beds are just the best in the world. I can't even reckon when I was sleeping so well in my life - it's like you are sleeping on a cloud. It looks likes I found my best hotel in Paris!

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! This is our second time staying here and we will ALWAYS stay here when visiting Paris. It's centrally located in a great part of the city near many tourist spots and the metro. The staff - everyone from the front desk, the concierge, the bar - everyone is absolutely amazing - very professional, pleasant and very accommodating. The people staying in the room above ours was loud and the staff didn't hesitate to give us another room just so we can get some sleep. The entire hotel was recently remodeled and our room was spacious and well-appointed. You will not regret choosing this hotel for your stay in Paris!

This was a last minute booking and so lucky to find a comfortable room in this lovely part of Paris. The room was small but well designed with lots of charm and delightful ambience. The hotel staff were very friendly and professional. We liked the intimate size and quiet atmosphere. Recommended!

I travelled to Le Scribe with my grand daughter (10 yrs) and the hotel was cost, staff friendly.. In Paris😉). April ( substitute) a charming young lady made my grand daughter’s trip. Warm, engaging and caring! Our room was quiet and all was great but could improve in the cleanliness of the room ( ie: replacing cups/tea etc..)

Thanks to Julie at the front desk, we were checked in smoothly. Other front desk attendent definitely needs more training. At the end of our trip, we were told that we cannot extend our stay, due to fully booked situation. Later that night, I checked reservation, many rooms became available. Hopefully the reservation system can be upgraded to reflect actual occupancy. We had to move to another hotel for one night. Thank you again Julie for such a wonderful and friendly experience.

We stayed here for four days and we loved this hotel to the hilt . As much as we loved the city actually ! Location was perfect . Just behind Le Opera. And close by we had great cafés , all around the hotel we had great shopping with galleries Lafayette absolutely round the corner. The rooms were well appointed. Very comfortable and super luxurious. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel though as we preferred the sidewalks . But the Bar was sufficient for a quick drink and snacks. They had their own Le scribe cafe which I thoroughly and highly recommend for the number of teas and coffee they serve. Yes they are well stocked. And it’s quite so good to have an eager conversation in privacy. We were lucky to be there in Bastile Day and watch the parade on the road opp the Hotel. With hardly any restrictions we saw the parade up, close & personal.

Rooms the size of coffins. Air conditioning is non existent. Completely overpriced - paying $600/night for a weekday rate and can’t even go around the bed without turning sideways. Total rip off. Avoid this place at all costs. Tried to get a bigger room and was told they had nothing which I highly doubt

I am not sure whether it is incompetence, bad will or ignorance, but am willing to assume it is just the latter. A shortage of staff is not the issue as there are many employees around who only fail to deliver customer-oriented services. I do not want to provide a full list as I do not have the time or feel the urgency to do so, but just 2 examples: - The details: I don't mind encountering a half-used toilet paper roll in-room, but then a spare roll would be nice as this can otherwise cause awkward issues. Happened at least twice. - If you approach the reception desk manned with 3 people, then the 3rd person fails to produce an air of being busy and therefore decides to disappear through the back door. The other 2 busily do something and might notice you after a while. Overall seem to be geared more towards (non-returning) travel groups. Room preferences of regulars & diamond members are likewise regularly ignored (I can't bear the phrase "next time" any longer). But the upshot is that after requesting & receiving the bill / fast check-out and leaving the hotel they follow up with additional (random/undocumented) charges afterwards. The price point would be ok, if they would deliver, but at this performance level, there are cheaper and better options around. In the current state: Avoid staying here!
