We visited this hotel for my birthday, and it was perfect. It's very clean and the hotel staff are really friendly. It's in an amazing location, just outside Dupleix station, meaning you can pretty much get anywhere you want to in Paris. We had a room in the top floor, with a piece view of the Eiffel Tower, I would...

St. Charles is located near the Metra stop, bus stop, taxi stand and Place de Monge was the scene of a wonderful market three days a week. Not to mention just two blocks up the hill one can find any restaurant of your choice. Loved the location. The front desk employees were very helpful.

We loved our time at Hotel Saint Charles. The rooms are very small, but they are comfortable & well appointed. We had a lovely view over the nearby rooftops from our double door open windows. We loved the local vibe in this neighborhood and found ourselves milling about with the locals at the weekly markets. 5-10 min walk to the...

The service here is organized to support the convenience of staff, not guests. Two examples: Terribly jet-lagged, I skipped a lunch to return to the hotel for an hour's nap. I change, post Do Not Disturb sign. One half hour into my nap a man knocks and calls. I wake up, do not answer, he knocks again. I pull covers...

As one expects in Paris, very small room, but comfortable. Never visited the Butte aux Cailles area before, but really enjoyed it - almost a village atmosophere with good bars and restaurants nearby. Good access to metro at Place d'Italy.

We spent a week here in August, and loved it. We had visited Butte aux Cailles briefly the year before, and thought it would be a great area to stay for a few days. The Hotel Saint Charles was an excellent choice of accommodation. It's in the heart of Butte aux Cailles, and has been recently refurbished, so it's very...

Hotel is situated at a 10 minute walk from metro Place d'Italy. Area around hotel is relatively quiet but does offer some nearby restaurants. Service at reception was correct. Room and bathroom are very small and have a design that not all may appreciate... Cleaning could be better. WIFI is available but is rather slow... so do not plan on...

Good double bed in a small room, clean, small bathroom. Very good wifi, 10 minutes walk from Eiffel Tower. On the negative side: impersonal welcome, doors banging when they close and sad under ground breakfast room. Surrounding offer Los of choice to eat out.

Great location for a citytrip to Paris, nearby 2 metro stations. At night, many cosy restaurants and bars are available at walking distance, so you don't have to stay in the (busy) city centre for dinner. Recommended is the restaurant 'Fanfan' nearby, even #30 on Tripadvisor of all 13.000 restaurants. Breakfast offers much choice, very friendly staff, rooms are clean...

3 star hotel, should be a 4 star. Extremely well finished, comfortable rooms, well appointed if a little "bijou" ( or clever use of space?) The area is full of charming restaurants, bistros, cafes and bars..enough diversity for all tastes. Two Metro stations in easy walking distance. Only had to change once from Charles de Gualles Airport. Will definitely revisit.

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighbourhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.

“To the right of the hotel door as you exit, is a cute little cafe/restaurant but I forget the name. Great food and great service. It is on the same side as the hotel 100 meters to the right at the corner. A great bakery across the street of the cafe!!”
