The hotel is in a good location, very close to the Hotel de Ville Metro stop, sights, and the gay area too. The rooms are cute, clean, and the bathrooms acceptable size for Paris. Overall, I just wonder if I could have found something better for the money. Even with the AC/Heat/fan unit off, I heard a really annoying sound...

The Marais is one of the nicest places to be in Paris. This hotel is right there, with easy walking to Notre Dame. We have stayed there four times during the past four years and have found the staff friendly, and the hotel comfortable. I'm not sure why some of the bad reiveiws. This is NOT a Hilton, but a...

We booked this hotel at the last minute but after reading the reviews here we tried to cancel! The hotel has a 7 day cancellation policy so we decided just to risk it. The location is brilliant and the hotel was absolutely fine, trust me I've stayed in some dumps throughout Paris and Europe! The staff were really friendly as...

We were shocked at what we saw when we arrived at the hotel and saw the hotel in complete rehab. Our room was so small we could hardly fit our luggage in. Fodors recommended it as a budget hotel on a quiet street and it made it sound quaint and wonderful. the pictures on the hotel website were also prettied...

If you can't find another reasonably priced hotel in the Marais, this place is worth considering. The location is great, in a quiet sidestreet just off Rue des Archives, with great bars, cafes, restaurants and shops in easy walking distance. It's also within walking distance of Hotel de Ville, Pompidou Centre and Notre Dame. Rooms & bathroom are small but...

My 14 year old son and i stayed here in 2000. i found this hotel ithrough Rick Steves. The location was fine. the bathroom was very nice. the room itself was small and just okay. The walls were paper thin. Hearing a drunk couple copulating at 2 a.m. is not my idea of a pleasant night (it most likely was...

After doing an exhaustive internet search for reasonably-priced sleeps in Paris, I found Hotel Vieux Marais on TripAdviser. The mostly glowing reviews did not dissapoint. The hotel is on a tiny street (it wasn't even on our Paris map!) just off Rue des Archives in the Marais district. Though this neighborhood is known for its major bar and club scene,...

This characterful Hotel is in a totally marvellous location in the fab Marais & handy to everything..... However it is an acquired taste with a lot of eccentric charm. It's like staying with a quirky family who are renovating. I'd stay again though ... The Staff are really great & helpful - just be friendly & try speaking a bit...

We stayed in Room 43 at this hotel. Booking a hotel in Paris when there are so many to choose from, and so many awful reviews is a huge challenge so really want to provide details on our experience! Staying in the Marais was fantastic - so much to do in the evening, so close to lots of attractions, we...

I realize as Americans, we are probably the most spoiled people in the world and we like it that way. This hotel was far from acceptable. No lights in the hall, no working outlets, 1 key per guest. Then there is a game to play with lights with the room key. If you are used to substandard then this one...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
