I chose this hotel mainly because it was close to where our son was staying in Paris, but I would go back there again just because we had such a nice experience. The hotel was clean and very charming. Our room was small (typical for Paris), but everything was fresh, clean and in good working order. We had room on...

I always find Parisian hotels to be expensive with small rooms. While our rooms were on the small side they were recently renovated and decorated, and they had adequate space, some of it cleverly arranged for putting away clothing and personal items. The price was moderate and acceptable for what we got. Our bathrooms were very modern and sleek. The...

Just returned from trip to French Open, picked this hotel based on previous reviews and we were not disappointed. Initially we had difficulty finding hotel as it is tucked down a one-way street off Bvd Montparnasse close to Metro Vavin (other reviews offer detailed directions - take note prior to travel). All reception staff courteous and welcoming, one in particular...

We booked the hotel, through booking.com. There were generally good reviews online but the choice of hotels in Paris is so enormous that I was overwhelmed. Best Western Villa des Artistes was among the pricier hotels that I came across and was in an area of Paris where i had not stayed before. Since I was travelling with my 2...

This hotel is well placed for discovering Paris. The Metro (Vavin) is minutes away. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was more than adequate. Also if you feel like staying locally there’s plenty to do in Varvin or the wider Montparnasse as the cafes and restaurants are both plentiful and worth a visit.

We stayed 4 nights at the Villa Des Artistes, enticed by great rates and photos online. Location - this hotel is very close to Luxembourg Garden and the Montparnasse neighborhood. Very cool location if you are a Hemingway fan, as this hotel is close to all the great cafes along Montparnasse Blvd. Other than that, you will have to take...

We had no complaints about this hotel. It's quite easy to get there from the airport (CDG) by taking the train (transferring at Gare du Nord for more frequent trains, or Denfert Rochereau) then metro (to Vavin station on line 4). The train costs €8 and metro under €2, which is much cheaper than taking a taxi for €50. The...

I have been to Paris three times and each time I have stayed at Villa Des Artistes. The staff, especially the late night crew is exceptionally friendly. Located on rue de la Grande Chaumiere, a narrow little street off Boulevard Montparnasse, you are just 3-5 minutes from the Metro. Just walk out of the hotel, take a left, walk just past...

Just got back from a Valentine's weekend in Paris with my wife. I booked the BW Villa des Artistes through Hotels.com at about £115/night room only. Price seemed very reasonable compared to everything else I was being offered on a range of agents' sites. We had a recently refurbished 'Arty Room', which has been refitted to very high standards -...

I stayed @ this hotel for the last 3 nights of my stay in Paris and it was booked using a French website by my Parisian friend. Location: situated on a quiet side street off of busy Rue de Mont passé (spelling is very off), close to several really nice restaurants, cafes and a mini-market right across the major street,...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
