First of all you get what you pay for. This hotel is cheap we got 3 nights for 200 euro. The room was an ok size, basic enough. Has tv but no english speaking channels. The bathroom is tiny and the shower is at a raised height which might be an issue for some people. But I have to say...

So, this is not the Ritz but a convenient place to stay in Paris, especially if you want to stay in Montmartre (or, rather, on its verge). The staff were friendly and the pricing reasonable (by Paris standards, that is). Breakfast is basic but inexpensive (5 Euros Oct 2015). We went for an extended weekend in early October. This time...

Low life neighbourhood, the area is quite dodgy, but not dangerous. When i check in, i have to pay straight away for my stay over the counter whilst booking.com earlier had charged me when I made the booking. Apparently, the hotel had disagreement with lots of other websites too. And they insist to take cash only. The reception pretend not...

My room was small but nice enough; bedlinen clean and the bed very comfortable indeed. Plumbing was excellent with plenty of hot water. The shower was small (no good for the 'larger' person) and raised approx 30 cms above the floor level and not that easy or safe to get down from if the floor was slippy. Maybe just my...

I stayed at this hotel in June 2015 after reservation made at booking.com in Feb 2015, which charged my credit card immediately. When I arrived for my stay, the manager told me I have to pay again as he has problems with booking.com. Despite showing him my receipt from booking.com that payment has been made since Feb, he shouted at...

Simple, yet cheap stay in Montmartre. Smallest elevator - not for the claustrophobic, but overall a nice hotel close to Sacre Coeur and Gare du nord. Short walk to canal st. martin a hip and trendy neighbourhood just east of de l'est.

The staff was nice and helpfull, the rooms were clean, the TV worked, The WiFi worked, there were hot water in the shower and the area is not so bad. Its as safe as any other tourist crowded area. There are a...

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. We always felt welcomed and cared for. Being new to Paris was a little daunting but the staff were very helful in arranging good restaurants and explained good and bad areas. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The areas is fantastic. Great restaurants within short walking distances and close...

One look around our room and it was obviously not cleaned and poorly maintained. Do yourself a favor and go on air bnb if your price range is this low, it's hard to imagine this hotel earned its one star. The neighborhood might be trendy but my girlfriend and I felt unsafe at times, and were endlessly approached by aggressive...

Hotel Angleterre is a budget hotel, so don't expect too much of it. It is located just off the main road and train line so it is close to good transportation but less noisy which helps. It's an up and jumping part of Paris, so you should not be staying indoor too long if you stay here, so it does...

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.

“Wooden spiral type staircase and very small lift, no 'room with a view', no A/C unit, no grand entrance”

“Breakfast was minimal for the price paid which consists mostly of croissant, toast, stale cake, cereal, bread with an assortments of spreads (jam, nutella and honey - unlimited). Butter was supplied was limited to 1 per person. I think the option of cheese and boiled eggs at a minimum would have been appreciated by guests. Coffees were really great! At the time visited it was extremely hot. The air-conditioners in rooms worked intermittently and was outdated.”
