When I was looking for a hotel halfway between Barcelona and Nice, I was at first struck by the paucity of 'interesting' choices. So I decided to try Aigues Mortes, which I loved as a place, but had only previously visited for lunch. The Mazarin seemed to be a secret, but sounded OK, so I took a chance. It's down...

Stayed for one night. Nice central location within the wall of Aigues Mortes with an underground car park. The entrance to the car park was a little tricky (probably because of a large 4x4 parked adjacent to the door on our visit) but bags of room once inside. Very friendly and helpful staff. We opted to eat there in the...

Simply lovely hotel. Excellent location in such an interesting town with lots to see and do wondering the old streets and ramparts. The hotel and staff made us feel like appreciated guests rather than just another booking. It was luxuriously appointed, but not excessive; and it was interesting hearing about the hotel history. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable,...

Wonderful haven of peace in the very cosy medieval city of Aigues-Mortes. Friendly service, efficient staff, comfortable and clean. Fully-fledged 3-star but deserves more!

A charming hotel in picture-perfect, walled medieval Aigues-Mortes on the edge of the wild and beautiful Camargue. Villa Mazarin (pictures of Cardinal Mazarin feature on the walls of the reception area) is a honey-coloured, old stone building that has been extended around a central garden, where tables are set out to serve meals in summer. There is a pool and...

Stayed here with my wife in July. We walked in off the street and the American guy at the counter was a treat to deal with (a New Yorker with Irish roots). He gave us a good rate on an executive suite. The hotel is an extensively renovated villa and is really authentic and luxurious. The bed was fabulous, the...

Just spent two nights here in a standard double room overlooking the garden and partially covered swimming pool. The whole experience was wonderful. The hotel is a haven of tranquility, the decor superb and the service second to none thanks to David who is constantly busy making sure everything is just right. We didnt eat here and so are unable...

We all really enjoyed our short stay at Villa Mazarin. We (my husband, myself and our two children aged 11 and 8) had two premium rooms on the first floor. They were exactly as described, very spacious and comfortable. The courtyard was a shady oasis of calm. The children loved the pool and hot tub. We all enjoyed the fortified...

We visited this hotel because we needed a few days of quiet relaxation and sun after the long British winter. We had been to Aigues Mortes before and had promised ourselves a return visit to this wonderful fortified town. We were not disappointed. Stepping through the door we stepped into another world, of five hundred years of history, and the...

Wonderful location in a beautiful place about which many reviews, quite justifiably, wax lyrical. The hotel is charming, a seamless blend of old and new; the medieval walled town in which it is situated, quaint and historic. The rooms are large and refreshingly minimalist with faux antique furniture, huge comfortable bed with fluffy duvet and tiled floors. Being here in...
