Having just stayed in two modern hotels, the Amphitheatre was a complete contrast and one cannot judge it in the same way. For a start, it is an old building and an old style hotel. So, we were on the third floor without a lift – but that is what you get in an old hotel, in the heart of...

We selected this hotel because it was in the heart of Nîmes. And its location is indeed fantastic. Welcome was nice. Room was ok albeit small (which is to be expected in the old town). Good breakfast. Decent pricing. Well, perfect for anyone who'd like to stay in the heart of Nîmes.

Within sight of the amphitheatre, in the pedestrian part of the old city, a fairly easy walk to the railway station even with luggage (despite the appalling roadworks all around the city), this family run boutique hotel was lovely. Our room was on the second floor, facing the busy square with its restaurants, cafes and bars but still quiet. The...

Although situated in an historical pedestrian only area taxi access to the door is no problem, however your unavoidable early morning wake up call will be the street cleaning service vehicles going about their work. A good 15 min walk from the train station which has to cross the long term detours due to major roadworks around the amphitheatre.

Hotel de L'Amphitheatre certainly lives up to it's name, it's half a block away from the old Roman arena in Nimes, which is the heart of the city's historic neighborhood. This area is filled with cafes, bars, and restaurants, all tucked away among the tiny streets. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the train and bus stations, from which...

Great location, close to the city centre and only 10 mins from the station. Family run hotel. I'd chosen a single room with a large bed and so didn't expect a big room but it was big enough. Nice touch with the tea making facilities. Bathroom was equipped well. The room could be described as "shabby chic" which was good...

Small dark room with no shower, no telephone, and a broken television. Air conditioning only worked half of the time. Minimalist and somewhat used decor. We asked for a nicer room on another floor but we were told the hotel was completely booked. Not worth it for the price and lackluster service.

The Hotel de L'Amphithéatre is beautifully positioned in the heart of Nîmes. While there was no lift, our host was quick to carry our suitcases to our 1st floor room. The room itself was lovely - roomy with gentle colours, a wardrobe each + chest of drawers & a very comfortable bed. A small balcony overlooked the bustling square beneath...

We stayed just the one night in Nimes, and were very pleased to stay at the 'Hotel de l'Amphitheatre'. The hotel is so close to the arena, there are restaurants nearby and we could walk everywhere. The staff were all nice, and we were very pleased in the morning when we said we were going to the Pont du Gard,...

Located where all the shops, bars, and restaurants are, a few seconds walk to the Amphitheatre. Spacious room with lots of storage space, AC, double glazed windows, small balcony overlooking a square. TV with a few international channels. Water boiler, tea and cookies are provided. French country decor, very clean. No elevator, host helped us with the bags. Breakfast is...
