This review is long overdue. We were a family of 10 people who stayed at Villa Lara Hotel in July 2016 for 3 nights. Between all of us, we have travelled to many different destinations, and I have to say that this hotel was one of the best we have ever stayed at. From the ease of reservation to the...

My wife and I and our two-year old daughter stayed at the Villa Lara for three nights and could not have had a better experience. Before our stay, I corresponded by e-mail with Jessica and Ines to make sure they knew exactly what type of room we wanted (a suite with a separate living area) and that we would need...

We spent two nights at the Villa Lara this month as part of our Normandy tour. Accommodations and service were all excellent and really cannot find any aspects to improve. It was really a perfect stay.

We were delighted to find that a hotel with such great reviews was available at very short notice and to find that it does indeed deserve the praise heaped upon it by other reviewers. Every member of staff (and the owner) were faultless - friendly, helpful and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble. The room (suite) was fantastic - loads...

This is a fantastic hotel in a great little town. Clean, spacious and modernly decorated rooms with every amenity one could desire. Close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and things to see and do in the town.

We stayed here for 3 nights and would definitely stay again. The hotel is new, very clean and very comfortable. Everything is within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and they clearly value customer service. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel but my husband did and enjoyed it. In my opinion, Villa Lara is the best place...

I would definitely choose this hotel again. Stayed four nights in a suite (upgraded). I was very impressed with the room comfort and decor. The hotel is modern, welcoming, and comfortable. Guest rooms have a JBL radio with Bluetooth audio streaming capability. Complimentary sodas and water in your room refrigerator. Great base for D-Day beach and Mont Saint Michel tours....

We stayed at Villa Lara for several nights at the beginning of our France vacation, and it spoiled us for the rest of our trip! We were treated like royalty from the minute we walked in the door. From dinner reservations, to fabulous breakfasts, Villa Lara went above and beyond any expectations that we had. Our room had a beautiful...

We stayed 4 nights to see Normandy DDay beaches and Bayeux tapestry. The staff was exceptional. Helpful, kind and anticipated our needs. Breakfast was wonderful. Room was large with all amenities. We had a view of the cathedral. Quiet and close to many restaurants. This is a new hotel but still has charm. We had just come from Amboise where...

We traveled to Bayeux as a location from which to travel to the D-Day beaches and toMont St. Michel. It was a great decision. The location is perfect and the property is in the Bayeux city center situated on a small park along the small river and off the main street. It is quiet and elegant. It is short walking...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Villa Lara is a small privately owned luxury boutique hotel with a chic but casual atmosphere in the historic center of Bayeux, along the Aure River in a very quiet square facing the 11th century majestic cathedral and just next door to the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Our 28 rooms are appointed in an elegant French style with 8 different color schemes. All the furniture is made by Moissonnier, a well-known French company founded in 1885. Its cabinetmaking skills have been passed down generations, bringing the past to life with light touches, suggesting without imposing, breathing new life into traditions to make the present feel magical again, and creating jewelry for the hotel while cultivating an offbeat style-such is the spirit of Moissonnier today. All the rooms are accessible by lift and equipped with air conditioning, a minibar, large flat-screen TV and safe. The marbled bathrooms have a walk-in shower and also a separate bathtub in most of the rooms. The rooms range from 30 to 50 square meters with a view on the Bayeux Cathedral. Beds are minimum 1.80 x 2 meters and in most of the rooms can be up to 2 x 2 meters. Wireless high speed internet access is free throughout the hotel, which features a cozy bar/lounge area with a fireplace and a library, a marbled lobby, and a breakfast room set in a traditional French style where the breakfast is prepared and served in front of the guest. Our complimentary fitness center is available 24/7 and equipment includes a treadmill, bicycle, and strength training machines. A private carpark is available with 15 spots and a drop-off space for buses. Although we meet the official government criteria of a 5-star property, we do not have a restaurant, a spa, and a formal bellman at the front door. We do not want to mislead our future guests who attribute these specific amenities to their image of a 5-star property, although we do of course provide porterage and turn down. And, as always, our commitment to 5-star service is at the forefront of our day-to-day operations. ... more   less
