The hands down favorite of my 6 budget hotel experiences was the Hotel Cardinal in Aix. Location was just a few minutes walking from the city center but not in the heart of the action which I preferred as there was no street noise to be heard. Rooms are elegantly appointed, with classic french decor and 12 ft ceilings in...

My most recent visit was a second visit to this hotel for me. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel was better than I remembered. It is clear that the owners have been diligently making upgrades to this elegant little hotel over the years. This is a great hotel if you are looking for clean and elegant accommodations,...

Hello, thank you very much for your kind comment. We indeed work hard to maintain good quality, to upgrade every part of the hotel while keeping the traditional & historical feeling complete. Hope to see you again on your next visit to Aix !

We stayed at Hotel Cardinal for two nights -- after extending our stay from one night -- and it was my favorite room in France. The building is historic but not too tight, and the rooms are beautifully appointed with large armoires, chandeliers, many pieces of original artwork and balconies (ask for room 24). The location could not be beat...

Hello, Thank you so much for your nice comment. Indeed, it is a very quite street (Aix is a noisy & busy city, full of students and party people), in the "Quartier Mazarin" on the Renaissance side of the cours Mirabeau. Its even more quiet if you take a room on the court side. Thank you for your comment on...

The location of this hotel is perfect, only 2 minutes away from the Cours Mirabeau, the vibrating heart of Aix en Provence. Staff is very friendly, their tips for restaurants were reliable. The room was big enough, with a nice bathroom. We'll come back for sure.

The rooms are clean, bright, well equipped and comfortable. My reasonably priced room looked out into the internal courtyard which was pleasantly quiet and peaceful with no noise in the morning to wake me up. The hotel has a fantastic dining room for breakfast, where the gentleman who seemed to run the hotel allowed me to sit and relax on...

I stayed in the hotel cardinal in the middle of August and loved it! The rooms are decorated beautifully and are boutique. The hotel is also in a very good location for a good nights sleep, but also near all of the towns attractions and cafes/restaurants. The staff were also very helpful! We origionally were going to stay one night...

After spending a week on the Cote d' Azur in a light-filled, cheery hotel room, arriving at the Hotel Cardinal was a let down - my room was dark, the carpet badly stained, and the furniture shabby. Having said that, it probably still is reasonable value for money. Just ask not to be put in Room #1...very little natural light...

Hello, Thank you for your comment. Indeed, room #1 needs some refurbishing, and therefore will be one of the 5 rooms we completely refurbish each year. Customers who look for quietness usually love that room also for its large size and specially for the garden that is in front on it. Still we have upper floors rooms that are very...

Beautiful, good sized room with period furnishings, spacious bathroom..great position..easy walking to central attractions, fantastic shops, grocery and bars at the end of the street. Close to tourist office and station. Breakfast room looked inviting although we preferred to experience the cafe scene. Staff were a little off handed but helpful ,although some struggled with English as much as we...

We checked in here just after lunch and our room was already available which was great. The rooms are small but neat, with old-style furniture. The bathroom was fine except that I prefer the hand-held showers to also have a hook to sit on above head level, which this one didn't. The rooms were serviced quickly and well. The location...
