Summary ...... property : exceptional, views : phenomenal, service : first class, food : ordinary and overpriced, drinks : also overpriced although a stunning wine list. So a 3.5 in reality...... Not for the first time in this year's travels, a stunning hotel marred by poor cuisine. A Michelin is open now, but the main restaurant Citadel evening meal was...

The perfect hotel for vacationing in Provence. This beautiful hotel has been newly renovated and is situated in the most gorgeous medieval village of Gordes. It overlooks the picture- perfect Luberon valley and evenings on the terrace are magical. Mr. Jean-Pierre Lerallu and his outstanding concierge Thibault and staff Jose, Dalila, Laura and others went above and beyond to make...

My husband and I decided to visit the Luberon region with the hope of taking a bit of a rest after a whirlwind Viking cruise. We were expecting quiet solitude for the last few days of our visit to France but what we got was something quite different but BETTER! We knew that La Bastide de Gordes had undergone a...

Location is perfect , rooms are beautiful, service is fine but...nothing works properly : aircon : out of service; hot water : out of service, restaurant : not finished. Add a price that is 3 times what you pay elsewhere, and you can call it a ripoff.

First...some reviewers are so picky that I just cringe at their petty little complaints. These people can NEVER be satisfied. Run away if you encounter them... My amazing fiancé booked this hotel and it had only been reopened a week prior after extensive renovations. If you have a car: strongly recommend you call ahead and reserve a parking space; otherwise,...

We were looking for a spot to soak up the wonder that is Gordes and we found it in La Bastide de Gordes. It was a very hot day not 12pm yet so we ordered the sparkling water €8 ea, over the top but we thought worth it for the setting. I asked if we could have a twist of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set atop a rocky outcrop at the heart of the Luberon in Provence, the village of Gordes, one of the "Most beautiful Villages in France" offers exceptional views over the Luberon mountain range. And at the center of that village, La Bastide de Gordes offers all the splendor of a former stately home. Carved into the very rock face of the hill, and built on 12th-century ramparts, the chateau is integrated into fortifications of the village. Combining charm, elegance, comfort and luxury, the hotel features intimate, welcoming and restful interiors. The fine art of receiving guests is evident throughout the rooms and suites, three of which boast private terraces. Handsomely appointed in a refined yet relaxed style, with appealingly rustic touches, they provide unparalleled and memorable views over the fabled Luberon Valley and mountains. The spacious rooms and suites feature private bathrooms with a bathtub, and sometimes also have a separate shower. A flat-screen TV with satellite channels is provided. Provencal cuisine made with local and seasonal products and regional wines are featured in the restaurants:'l'Orangerie" for lunch on week days and brunch on weekends and "La Citadelle" for diner each day. Meals can be enjoyed in the vaulted dining room or on the shaded terrace with its view of the valley. A further restaurant, Peir I Pierre Gagnaire TT, features French gastronomic meals prepared by multi-stared chef Pierre Gagnaire and his team. The 800m SISLEY Paris Spa offers massages, a hot tub, a steem room, massaging jets, an indoor chromatic bath a fitness room and a solarium. The 3 outdoor pools are surrounded by a sun deck and offer unrestricted views of the valley. The hotel was fully renovated at the beginning of 2015 and offers free WiFi throughout. ... more   less
