Hostel Vertigo, is very well located in Marseille, two blocks from Vieux Port, which have a lot of options to have fun and transportation. It's very close, from the Notre Dame Cathedral too. My room was very spacious, clean and enlighted, with A/C. Breakfast ok, not big deal, very secure room (card access).

Hotel Vertigo has a great, tastefully artsy and modern look, a good social area, and a relaxed, youthful and friendly vibe. The staff are also very friendly and easy-going - and professional at the same time. The rooms and facilities are basic but well-maintained and clean. And the location is perfect - on an charismatic, non-touristy street with fun local...

Initially was a little awkward to find, being up a narrow, alley-like street somewhat farther than expected, but once settled the location worked well to get around to see the sights, find restaurants, etc. Got a great tip from a staff member to go see a Calanque, which turned out to be one of the best highlights in of our...

Vieux Port is the nicer of the Vertigo hostels. Its a little bit expensive, but its a 2 minute walk from the docks, a 10 minute walk to the tram and a 15 minute walk to the trainstation. The staff are very friendly, and are very helpful. The rooms are clean, the wifi is good, and the common areas are...

Hotel Vertigo Vieux Port is a perfect solution for whom want to visit Marseille from the inside! It is very near to the old harbour but in the same time is located in a very quiet street. Rooms were clean and really really big, we had the chance to take the double store room and was perfect!

A lovely hostel! definitely recommend to any back packer-friendly atmosphere and met a lot of lovely people, made a lot of friends! There was a kitchen area, fridge and our 6 person room had two showers, a toilet and was clean and spacious. A definite 5*! I had a 6 person room with my boyfriend and 4boys and was not...

Nothing special though nothing terrible about the Vertigo Hostel in Marseille. In a really good location close to the water and the downtown food and drink areas, friendly and helpful staff and decent sized rooms that were very clean. There just wasn't much of an atmosphere here at all, as far as hostels go and most people were travelling in...

We stayed here (as a family) in July 2015. The beds were comfortable and the room was large. The internet worked but was a little slow. The room was shady and therefore comfortably cool, even in Marseille which was as a whole unbearably hot on that day. All good. Breakfast included, which is not a given in France and made...

Thank you for your comment. Yes, you are right, our sign say HOTEL, but we couldn't write another word because the word HOSTEL doesn't exist in French. Thank you anyway for your nice comment. It is always nice to know that people had a great time with us. Remy

Only stayed here one night but the staff was friendly, the location was pretty good (far from the train station but near the old port and a number of restaurants and supermarkets), and the rooms were pretty nice. Would definitely consider staying here again if I return to Marseille.

I was only there for 2 nights but it was great! I was in a 6 bed dorm with ensuite bathroom with shower as well as another room with just a shower. The room was so spacious and very clean! With air conditioning. There was also a plug and personal locker for each person but you had to use your...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Voted the best hostel in France for 2011 by Hostelworld customers! As for Vertigo Centre that opened in 2007 , you can find the feeling of a second home here. We're located in the Old Port area, walking distance from beaches, bars, clubs, the central market and the famous Notre Dame church. We offer charming two-, three-, four-, five- and six-bed rooms. All of our dorms are very clean and equipped with comfy wooden bunk beds, private shower and toilet facilities. The five- and six-bed dorms are equipped with two private bathrooms. Every room in our hostel is carefully designed and decorated by local artists according to the unique character of each room. Our building was renovated from two typical buildings which makes for a modern cosy atmosphere, while at the same time it has the feel of a typical Marseillean house. We offer a ton of free amenities, such as breakfast, Wi-Fi, linen, a fully-equipped kitchen with free spices, city maps, personal travel info, use of our travel guidebooks, luggage storage, book swap and a valuables safe at reception - all for free! Our friendly, caring and multi-lingual staff are here 24hrs a day to answer all your questions. We'll try our best to make you have a memorable stay in our hostel and in Marseille. And of course there's no curfew, no lockout and no stupid rules! We'll make sure that you feel like you're home here. After you have been either on the road all day, or walking around in the city, you'll be able to relax in our cosy and friendly common areas, have a drink, talk and make friends. ... more   less
