Finally the wife and I had babysitter, and off to Berlin we went. Hotel Amano is located right in Berlin Mitte and really close to Alexander platz. That is really convenient. In our booking we asked for a quiet room and also when we came before our room was ready. They said that would be no problem. When we then...

Upon arrival, you are greeted by lovely staff in a classic overdesigned boutique hotel setting. Disappointment strikes the moment you enter the room. The rooms are small by Mitte standards and do not include a minibar or any beverages. The shower is exposed to the room, so it is best for couples or individuals. The wifi was ok. Overall the...

I stayed here for two nights. Checkin for efficient but that is all. The room I had was small but clean and functional. The first morning I was awoken at 5am with roadworks outside my street facing window. That's not the hotels fault, and Auguststraße is a relatively quiet street. Breakfast was again efficient with sufficient options. I like the...

Stayed here for 4 nights with my partner. Good location and decent hotel until checking out. Hotel claimed we had used the bar which we hadn't. Asked to see receipt to which the front desk showed me a receipt with a signature nothing like mine. Lady I dealt with agreed we wouldn't be charged. I then got home to find...

I stayed here for a full weekend during March 2017 with two friends. We had gotten a good deal for 3 of us to share a studio apartment. The staff here are very friendly, helpful & approachable with excellent English. I'm very fussy & have a high level of standard when it comes to cleanliness and this was not an...

Clean, contemporary hotel. Rooms are small and quite basic but quite comfortable for a night or two. Staff were offhand and inattentive - at the reception as well as in the breakfast area. The location was great and the hotel is not expensive.

Very modern looking hotel, entrance hall is stunning! Rooms are also very modern but quite basic, didnt have tea/coffee facilities. The rooms were also very warm and although it was Mid December we could have done with some air con, sleeping with windows open didnt seem to keep the room much cooler. We had chosen to upgrade from a standard...

I honestly couldn't reccomend it more. Location is perfect, downstairs bar is great , cocktails are super nice and music is good. You can literally walk everywhere from this hotel. I have not had dinner here but the breakfast is perfect. I have been to Berlin twice and stayed here twice. If I ever go back I will stay here...

Nice clean rooms that are perfect for a short break. Single beds not the biggest and not the comfiest either. Hotel itself is very modern and trendy. Very cool bar area but could be bigger. Wasted reception area that could be better utilized. Breakfast was superb, great selection. Good location too.

A pleasant 3* hotel on the heart of Mitte district in Berlin. The hotel is 10m walking from Alexanderplatz and easy to find. The hotel atmosphere is nice and enjoyable. The room are simple but comfortable, the cleaning staff is very helpful and kind, but the front door desk should be more helpful and sympathetic with the clients. A smile...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
