We stayed at the Ibis Mitte just off Alexanderplatz. Basic (by the nature of the hotel group!) but very clean, adequate supplies of linen on a daily basis, requests for more pillows granted without question or fuss and very efficiently. An ideal place to base yourselves if you are "exploring" Berlin. We did bed and breakfast - no problems at...

Stayed for 3 nights whilst sightseeing in Berlin. Was a 10 minute walk from Alexanderplatz train station with all its links to the public transport system making it an ideal position. An early check in was brilliant and the room was quite nice and clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially the bar staff. Only downside was...

Great hotel, Clean, central, close to transportation (tram m2, alexanderplatz), great breakfast and a great service. Thanks for a lovely week in Berlin. The only con I found was, that there's no safety box in the rooms, only at the reception.

First visit to Berlin. This hotel is approx 10 minutes walk from Alexander Platz railway station. On the edge of shopping area and nears lots of places to eat and drink. Easy hotel check in and small but comfortable room. No tea and coffee was a surprise even for a budget hotel. The garage next door sold take out drinks...

Location is decent, however constant building work disrupted our sleep it started early in the morning and was non stop. What really ruined our stay was the rude staff at reception. Smiling is free and doesn't cost anything. We were whistled at by the receptionist called Sarah el Hussain at 8.15pm in the hotel bar. This is an extremely rude...

I booked a room at the Ibis, rather than my normal choice of an Airbnb as it seemed to be the cheaper option this time. The hotel is located in a great place, even a stones throw from Soho House. The main area of Mitte with a lot of the bars and restaurants is about a 20 minute walk, and...

Good location, 10-15 minute walk from Alexanderplatz, 5 minute walk to tram, Pretty average breakfast according to one of our group, but I cant say for myself as I didn't eat it, Twin room beds are an inch apart so make sure whoever you stay with doesn't snore to loud.....unlike my brother :) Rooms are pretty small but I guess...

The hotel is roughly a 10/15 minute walk from Alexanderplatz and very close to a tram line stop. We used the Circle Tour Hop on, Hop off transport from Alexanderplatz to visit the main city tourist sights, which we found suited our needs perfectly. The rooms were clean, comfortable, well serviced and provided all the standard facilities typical of the...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
