Location wise it's great...there's a bus stop right outside that takes you to the main railway station. A short walk away is the metro with connections to everywhere. The room was clean, but quite small...if you have lots of luggage you will struggle. Bathroom was clean but tiny (and the water from the pipes gave a whiff of something not...

The building itself is very unusual and old-fashioned. The room had beautiful high ceilings but the decor itself was quite dated. The bed was comfy- however it was two single mattresses placed on a double frame, which meant you woke up wedged in the middle from time to time. The bathroom, however, was recently renovated. The staff were also really...

Although the hotel is well situated, I wouldn't return. The room was tiny, very uncomfortable, old in the bad sense of the word and the staff, especially a blonde straight haired lady very rude. There is no safety box either in the room or in the reception and the lift doesn't go to the ground floor.

Three stars hotel without lift and conditioning system. Nice old-fashioned environment. Noise in the the morning since the breakfast was served in the garden under my window. That could be understandable. What is puzzling is the reception. Two receptionists: one looked a little bit unexperienced but charming (please contact me! :-D ) and the other one ... well... let's say...

In a very easy location to get to with the Sony Centre and Potsdammer Platz station being just down the road. My partner and I also walked to Brandenburg gate, the Berlin Wall and the Topography with no problems. It's also surrounded by many different types of restaurants and shops. The hotel itself had beautiful high ceilings and we were...

The Altberlin Hotel is a rarity in Berlin, an old mansion converted into a boutique hotel, furnished in 19th century style at a reasonable price. It's location is fantastic. It is only 6 minutes walk from the Kulturforum, home to the Berlin Philharmonic, chamber music concert hall and major public galleries. It is on the edge of the Tiergarten as...

We stayed here whilst visiting the brilliant Christmas markets in Berlin. The hotel is about a 10 minute bus ride from Potsdamer Platz and was originally a grand old house which had been converted to apartments. The rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was plentiful and very fresh...it has...

This is a wonderful change from the usual hotel chains of UK. Friendly staff who are always willing to help, great transport links to the centre and attractions, larger than average rooms, lovely high ceilings and lots of quirky 'olde worlde' features. I would definitely stay here again without any hesitation!

My partner and I stayed here for three nights and what a lovely place to stay in, the staff where very helpful and spoke good English so I did not have to show myself up trying out my lack of German. The room was of a good standard but the only problem we had was with the toilet, the seat...

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
