The hotel is situated in a quiet street well located for u-bahn, restaurants and city centre. The rooms have large beds, old but stylish furniture and shower rooms. The restaurant provides a good buffet breakfast and lunch. Some outside seating. Staff are very helpful. Great place to stay to explore Berlin city.

We just spent two nights at this lovely hotel. Near the centre but tucked away in a classy little street, quite quiet. Lovely breakfast/brunch restaurant attached where the staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is good quality with lots of traditional choices. The rooms are very grand and all unique. Big, old furniture and tall ceilings. Not...

This small hotel has a very charming design and very friendly staff.  My single room (No 25) was very very small and felt like a room in a monastery (or a prison cell).  I'm 1.8m tall and the bed was way too small for me, at only 90cm wide. The matress has a rubber cover around it which made sleeping...

This was a 5 night stay for business in Berlin. Two years ago I stayed at the Honigmonds's sister hotel - Honigmond Garden Hotel. Very pleased to stay in this location. Staff is great - very helpful and nice; rooms seem all a bit different, but very comfortable and well appointed. Excellent breakfast in next door restaurant. Walking distance to...

Our tour company booked us into the Honigmond. It's relatively close to the city centre but still in a quiet area. Plenty of cafes and small restaurants close by so you don't have to go far for a good meal. Our room was super large with excellent facilities. The front desk is manned 24/7 and everyone we have spoken to...

I loved this hotel and found it beautifully kept, very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and very good breakfast. The cleanliness was impeccable and the bathroom facilities excellent. I really like the traditional way it is furnished although it didn't have a feel of 'old' or 'old fashioned'. Will recommend to friends and look forward to going again

Absolutely wonderful hotel! The hotel staff were very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. Their hospitality began before we had even arrived, by assisting us, via email, with details of the best way to get from the airport to the hotel. We chose to take the train and then walk from the train station to the hotel as it was only...

Great hotel in the heart of the city in Berlin. Really great lobby with free coffee and tea all day. Staff was exceptional and polite. My room was very small but kind of fun that way. I'm from the US so I'm not used to such a small room. It was very clean with plenty of electrical outlets. The bathroom...

This hotel might not be located in the middle of the hustle and bustle in Berlin. On the contrary, it's on a very quiet street, yet a relatively short walk from several train/subway stations and from Friedrichstraße. The interior is fabulous, grand, old style with high ceilings, satin wallpapers and plaster stuccos, right up my alley. Staff was very attentive...

We have just returned from a three-night stay in this quirky (in a nice way), centrally-located hotel. Recommend by Lonely Planet as a mid-range priced accommodation, the hotel is situated in a quiet street within easy walking distance (20 minutes) of some of the city's most-visited attractions. The building is a communist-era tenement block, but the lower three floors have...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
