Rooms are large, compared to European standards but the bathroom was kind of huge! Housekeeping service was good. Breakfast buffet had a good spread of local cuisine. Beds were super comfortable. The people in the kitchen and reception were very warm and helpful. There was a small TV in the room, but no English channels. They also have an in-house 24-hour bar and a restaurant. It is located right opposite the East Side Gallery. Overall, highly recommend this place - for solo female travellers as well. There are stairs to get to the reception, and also to the elevator. So if you have heavy luggage or a wheelchair, it will be a problem. They were planning to shut the place down - temporarily or otherwise, which is very sad...

Could not fault this hotel for its value for money. It is very well located for activities on the east side of the city - a very eclectic and interesting area. My single room was a good size with a really good supply of hot water and kept clean and tidy. Certainly no smells as other reviews reported. The breakfast choices were much better than one normally gets in hotels of this type in London. Staff were efficient and helpful. Overall excellent value for money.

Perfect location. Across the start (or end) of the East Side Gallery and The Wall Museum. Walking distance to Alexanderplatz and the area Kreutzberg with a lot of good restaurants. Private parking only costs € 5 per day. The hotel definitely needs some renovation. Heavily stained carpet floor throughout the hotel. Therefor I would recommend to bring a pair of flip flops to wear in the room. The room and bathroom are spacious, very basic but clean and the bed comfortable. We had to take a shower in the bathtub, but no wall mounted showerhead. We had to take the showerhead in our hands and without a shower curtain it was hard not splashing around. The breakfast surprised us. It was good! There were plenty of choices of bread and things to put on. The coffee though is horrible. For the price we have stayed it was very good. Value for money. But, at this location the hotel has so much more potential if they pay more attention to the defects and renovate the rooms.

Quick, efficient and friendly check in. Great location for public transport, restaurants and entertainment. Our room was basic but very clean with a small desk and chair. Our room was on the front so quite noisy, but it is a busy city so not unexpected. Bed comfy, linen, towels and pillows good quality. Housekeeping was very basic but towels changed if needed. Large fully functioning bathroom. The free breakfast was very good. Large choice and everything of excellent quality. Far better than expected for the price we paid. If you want to see this amazing city and just need a clean, comfy bed and a good breakfast stay here.

We made a booking via Agoda for 4 persons but we got a 3 person bedroom with just 3 pillows 3 quilts so not super happy. The room temparature was extreme hot since it had full sunshine the whole day and no airco or isolation. Therefore we had to leave the window open during the night but there was so much noice that we almost didn’t sleep. The hotel employee are friendly. But the room can get a update

Stayed here for a business trip. Rooms are in desperate need of updating, carpets are fraying and everything is just a bit tired - has a 'hostel' feel about it - and a smell to match. Also the lift is in need of maintenance as you were not sure if you were going to get stuck each time you used it. Also - not great for those with mobility issues/ heavy bags as you have to go up stairs to use it anyway. My sheets were changed once during my 2 week stay - I change them more often at home, didn't really think this acceptable. Was given a very cold check out as well, over all there are many other places in Berlin to stay with a great location, polite staff and nicer rooms. My business will not be paying for staff to stay here again on future business trips.

Pros: - The bed was clean and comfortable - The location was great for us, because we came to Berlin solely for a concert whoch was a two minute walk away. - Still, you can easily get to the centre by trains - The breakfast surprised both of us. It was great! There were plenty of choises of bread and things to put on. Although one of the staff members got a bit annoyed that I had tea in a coffecup, we enjoyed the breakfast very much! Cons: - The worst was the heavily stained carpet floor! It didn’t seem like the cleaning personal had any equipment to even clean carpet floors, and so I would recommend everyone to bring a pair of flip flops or something to use inside.. even if you’re just going from the bed to the toilet.. I really didn’t want to walk on it, not even with my socks.. - The lamps were super ugly and dusty, in the room and hallways - The sink was huge.. - The sink turned on by movement, and so it was horrible when brushing our teeth - The few cups that were left in the cupholder in the bathroom were all dusty and dirty.. - The shower was ok, but the adjusting of the head didn’t work and it was kinda nasty looking. Some hours dipped in vinegar would make a huge difference. Overall it was ok. The most important thing for me was that the bed was clean, and it was. If the location would be super convenient (e.g. for a concert), I would stay here again, if not I’d look for something else.

I can't say a bad word about this place, excellent value for money in a great location near the river, wall and transport links. Our room was basic but clean, if I had to say anything negative then it would be that there were no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was nice with bread, meats, cheese, cereals, eggs and usually either bacon or sausages. Staff were very friendly, especially the owner, whose name escapes me and Eric, they both often worked the bar and made a lot of effort to chat and make us feel welcome, one night we only popped in for a quick drink but ended up staying until well in to the early hours !! If you are looking for a good budget hotel in a great location then this is the place. If I ever return to Berlin I will most definitely stay there again.

The staff at this hotel is amazing. Always kind and helpful, been there several times now. And i can say that it is always a pleasure to be there. When it comes to the restaurant, the food is excellent. If you want to go for a good currywurst in Berlin, East Side Hotel probably got the best one.

Yes not a 5 star hotel but was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast. Enjoyed the stay. Would return again if we pass this way again. Close to the wall and historical landmarks.
