This is a well run and organized hostel with an excellent location. Near Friedrichstrassed station it is within walking distance from Museum island and many other attractions. The 12 bed dorm is super nice with lots of room and 2 private bathrooms and kitchen. The bar downstairs has good vibes and gets pretty lively in the evening. Free tea, coffee...

From the pictures you kind of get the feeling that this hostel might be a labour of love for the owners, but now I realise that not a lot of thought has gone into making guests feel welcome. I think first impressions are important, and when I arrived at the hostel, the guy at the desk gave me no introduction,...

I stayed in a six bed room and had a fantastic stay. The price was great. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The common room/bar offered a pool table, tables to eat and drink at as well as computers to use and sofas to relax on. I especially loved the Hitchhikers Guide to the...

My stay at the Heart of Gold Hostel was an overall nice experience. Now, I heard there were huge rooms, but since I stayed with a group, we got to be all together in one room. Overall, I was pretty happy with everything. The price was reasonable considering the location, the 5 euro breakfast was quite fair, the staff was...

Very big spacious rooms, clean hostel, very good staff. Breakfast could have been better (they charge 5€ for it) Good in house bar to meet strangers in the evening. They provide everything but take cash deposit so carry some cash with you

Hostel staff were lovely and helpful, especially when we had a mix up with our rooms. It was situated in a relatively good place close to the centre and near the train station. Toilets were few and far between and often blocked which was not ideal, kitchen was well equipped but there was not enough seating and it got crowded...

Very nice staff and clean hostel just located 8 min away from Friedrich train station. Breakfast is not included but you can have it until noon for an extra €5. Computers are at disposal for free, so is a pool table. Bathrooms are tidy and cleaned multiple times a day. Bed matress are a bit hard. I would recommend if...

This is hostel is really worth! Is well located, the subway station is just at the corner, but if you like walking the hostel is in a strategic point, is just 15 minutes walking to Alexanderplatz or to the Bradenburg gate. With a pool table and serving drinks and beer at night, has a good chill area, perfect to make...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
