Summarizing this is one of the best locations and the finest breakfast we’ve had in Europe in years! Great staff, very accommodating and friendly. Just steps from the Museum Island and transit. Thank you to all the fine folks @ Monbijou.
Friendly and helpful staff and the best hotel breakfast we have had so far. This is a lovely hotel within walking distance of the Museum Island. Our first room was small, so we asked for a larger one and they were happy to accommodate our...More
This is a very nice boutique hotel in a great area of Berlin. The rooms are EXTREMELY small but there’s everything you need. The breakfast is great a very nice selection. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Definitely staying here again. There is also a...More
Monbijou Hote is the best place to stay in, if you want to enjoy your berlin trip to the max. The hotel is perfectly located at the heart of the mitte district in center berlin. The room was super clean and quiet and the beds...More
THE perfect location, close to everything and a few steps from public transportation.
Clean, cozy, quiet, well maintained. A very very good breakfast.
Special mention to Martina and Alessandro from the front desk: they were extremely helpful and super kind: BRAVI!
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

It is within walking distance to museum island and Alexanderplatz, and it would be around a 30 minute walk to Branderburg Gate. But there is an S-Bahn station just round the corner and you can get to all the major locations in minutes. There is also a tram station literally next door. The area is nice, with plenty of bars and restaurants close by.

Go to the Hackescher Markt S-bahn station (out the hotel, turn left, then left again before the viaduct, station entrance on the right. Buy a single ticket and go up to the platform and validate. Ride the S-bahn to the Hbf then go out the main entrance (the station and its platforms are behind you, if you've walked under them you're going the wrong way). Cross the main road to the bus stop and pick up the TXL express bus (says TXL on it) and ride to the airport. Your ticket is valid for all this travel. Hit it right and it's half an hour of a trip. A single zone AB ticket covers the whole trip: €2.70.
