This is not a place for those who set comfort high. There are no TVs in the rooms and the hotel being in an old building, most of the ensuite bathrooms have a DIY feel. This is a place if you set personal and friendly service, flair, ambiente and charm above all and don't mind quirky. The breakfast buffet is...

Just wanted to add my voice. We loved this hotel, the quaintness and remaining true to the period. Room overlooking courtyard was good, bed very comfortable, breakfast fine. After being robbed in Paris immediately we arrived, this was an oasis. Unfortunately we lost a day with reporting loss etc and I have always regretted we only had one night in...

Beautiful, charming, original, non-fussy, great value. These characteristics outweigh the occasional inconvenience of the Pension access/ communication issues.

We stayed for four nights in two different rooms and they are much alike even though the interior is different in all rooms. It's spacious, it old and a bit worn down, the beds are ok except for one that was so soft that you got the feeling that you were being swallowed by the bed. It's a hotel with...

very clean and pretty little hotel/pension. comfy bed, pillows and comforter. big windows and high ceilings and 1920-ish furniture. staff very nice and location also. i read some people complaining about dirtiness and that the entrance was scruffy and that the hotel was located on the 2nd floor. none of that bothered me. in fact i think the stair case...

I am a writer from the US, have stayed twice and I plan to return when I am in Berlin again. The rooms are spotless, the beds comfy with feather duvets and pillows, the wood furniture is from the period the hotel was built, and for a little more money you can get a large room with views over the...

I chose Pension Funk because I wanted to stay in a place that wasn't like a typical American hotel. There are many of those in Berlin, and Pension Funk represents the opposite. It's decor pays homage to Asta Nielsen, the former resident of this large apartment, who was a 1920's silent film star. While this isn't a fancy hotel, it's...

We stayed for 4 nights in mid-summer at Pension Funk in room 15 across from the breakfast room. We had large windows facing the interior court. Our room was spacious, clean, and the ceilings in the hotel are about 15' high. Our stay was quiet for being just a few blocks from zoo train station. The staff was polite and...

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
