Dirty, damp, stained and filthy. Do not go there. My room was not in the main building but up the road, around the corner, across a deserted car park and in an insecure ground floor position.

There was a bathtub at the front door. Nice. The hotel was located in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't easy to find. The area is quiet but... Our room was on the first floor. The view from the window was to a park. People walking by could see right in. Yes, we did have curtains, but they were transparent....

Brilliant value, brilliant location, basic but clean and roomy, service a bit perfunctory but really you couldn't find fault with this place for the money.

PutInn is just a few minutes walk from Stadmitte U-bahn and conveniently located for sightseeing; Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Tor and Potsdamer Platz are a few blocks away. There is, however, little nightlife nearby and after dark this area is a little soulless although apparently safe to walk around. The reception staff were very cheerful and friendly and it was very...

I was very happy with my stay at Putinn. The location was great - I walked everywhere. The place was very clean, I never had to compete with anyone for my shared bathroom, and the breakfast, while not spectacular, was certainly adequate. I arrived outside of reception hours but had no problems making advance arrangements to get my keys. Definitely...

I have stayed here for 5 nights last june. This hotel was the very suprise of my whole trip. The location is simply perfect, just a block from subway station and Friedrichstrasse, the most elegant and commercial street in Berlin and no more than 3 from Gendarmenmarket (don't miss the Fassbender & Rauch chocolaterie) and almost 4 blocks from Postdamer...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
