Don’t let the name mislead you, the hotel is in Berlin. I stayed here twice in april 2017, I also stayed in Hotel Zoo in Berlin in april (my review of that hotel is also on TripAdvisor). About hotel de Rome… What can I say? This is a hotel were clients are treated as welcoming, valuable guests. And I like...

The hotel offers a child breakfast buffet and a lot of baby amenities in the room. Definitely the best hotel in Berlin, if you are travelling with Kids!!! The Hotel de Rome is the quiet and secret alternative to the Adlon and even better!

The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, as well as quiet. The concierge was super helpful. I asked for a tour guide at the last minute and they were able to find one right away. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The location is perfect for touring Berlin.

Hard to fault this one. Old-school elegance mixed with attentive staff members. Beautiful big hallways and bedrooms. Walk-in closets and marble-walled bathrooms. Beautiful pool in the basement that I didn't have time to try out. :-S Would love to return.

Our family stayed at Hotel de Rome for a week while visiting our daughter who was studying abroad in Berlin. Every aspect of our stay was perfect. One of the finest hotels that we have ever experienced. Restaurant is amazing for any meal but especially breakfast.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
