Very beautiful hotel located on a side street, but near major tourist attractions.. Rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Excellent service by all staff including housekeeping, concierge, doormen and wait staff. Special mention to very engaging bar staff, Merlin and Felix.

Incredible experience at this hotel. From the moment the front desk greeted us by name and handed us our keys and information I was impressed. Every detail was so well thought out that our stay was seamless and relaxing. The suite was huge with a great bed and excellent bathroom. It was well designed and immaculately clean. We stayed for two nights there with friends, and we enjoyed very much. Especially the check in desk helped us with a problem! They made our stay so pleasant, that we will come back if we will have a trip to Berlin again.

this hotel and all the staff were incredible, we've never experienced luxury like this. the housekeeper was extremely attentive, leaving us 'hers' and 'hers' slippers out, which really felt like a personal touch. The concierge helped us navigate the city with an experienced insiders eye, which really added to our trip. You must try the SPA its out of this...

We spent a week visiting Berlin with our adult children and could not have been happier with this hotel. It's very attractive, with large rooms, a lovely roof bar (not open in winter), spa, etc. and in a perfect location for sightseeing, just a quick walk to Museum Island and close as well to Brandenburg Gate, with the opera and...

Everyone was telling me Berlin is a sexy town which I was reserving judgement but walking into Hotel de Rome reception I was proved wrong. From the huge black sofas to the red splashes of light this hotel says elegant but not stuffy. Location wise, in a very safe area with doormen at the hotel. Just a hop across the...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
